APARIGRAHA & RELATIONSHIPS . I never thought I’d be in an international long-distance relationship but here we are. Plans change. Due to this pandemic I had to practice non-attachment when it comes to my relationship with Kum because if I get attached to ideas about the future it could lead to some frustration. Our keyword is *PATIENCE*. . It seems like every plan we made for the next year has gone to shit lol. Only looking ahead from here on out. ⚡️ I’ve spent too much time looking back, holding on, & resisting change. It’s only prevented me from happiness & inner peace. Looking back literally HOLDS you back. Though we sometimes need to take a look at past experiences to grow & change, you don’t want to sit in those experiences & dwell. Being present will actually help you heal faster than overthinking about the past. Life has been hard, there’s no doubt about it. & it’s okay to be sad, emotional, & unmotivated at times because of it. But if we allow every negative situation to knock us down, & keep us there, we will get stuck in a bad place. (I’ve been there, I know 🥴 ) We have to find ways to work through the trauma, learn from our experiences, & take life for what it is. We won’t always have the answers, but maybe we’re not supposed to. Just stay true to yourself, & keep moving forward. Change your perspective, & change your life. Don’t be decieved. Eventhough, when this picture was taken, I was in a really good state of mind, the last couple of weeks has been hard. Working and trying to organize a long distance move, leaving behind everthing that is familiar for something that is not, took its toll. Been so tired this last week. And happy. And sad. And excited. And scared. All at the same time. Sometimes I feel like we as humans think there should only be room for one emotion at a time when in fact we are capable of feeling SO much. Yoga Myth: Twists wring out the organs and detoxify the body. Reality: Anatomically, your organs are protected by your skeletal structure, layers of muscle, fat and connective tissue. You can move them around a bit depending on your position but you can’t “wring them out.” What does detoxify the body is a healthy liver. So what are the benefits of twists in your yoga practice? Well for one, twists are good for the spine. Specifically spinal twists lubricate the joints and help to maintain the plumpness of the discs so they don’t deteriorate or dry out from lack of use. Additionally, this external movement helps to facilitate an internal movement. Twisting can be super helpful for digestion since the contraction of our intestines, or peristalsis, is stimulated by touch. Twists are beneficial to add to your yoga practice, just make sure you’re twisting for the right reasons😉

Don’t EVER let anyone tell you what you are or aren’t. 💛 . I spent SO much of my life believing I wasn’t coordinated. Thinking I was “klutzy”. Not believing I was athletic. My gymnastics teacher literally told my mom it was probably a waste of time for me to stay in class, since I was “too tall” and didn’t have any real natural prowess. . Turns out, you don’t have to be born knowing how to do everything. Sometimes (most times ), PRACTICE and PERSISTENCE is the real key. 🔐 . Yoga has continued to grow me, humble me, evolve me physically, mentally, energetically and spiritually. It has shown me what I am capable of in so many different ways - and that dedication to my practice will always pay off. . We are not finished products. We are works in progress. How do we teach how to show love? How did we learn how to love? Love is an experience as unique to us as our fingerprint. Love is also something that we talk about and share as though we all are experiencing it the same way, but the truth is many people don't know how to show love and don't understand what it feels like to be loved. Maybe your parents showed you compassion when you were in pain as a child; perhaps they told you that they would give you something to cry about if you didn't stop crying. We are a product of our environment, but our actions and outlook are also a result of how we choose to respond to our experiences. We have a choice to perpetuate the pain we've known or create healing by sharing our love and compassion. Inflicting pain only propagates more suffering. Yet as we observe the world, the overwhelming response is to spread more pain, more hate, and create greater divisions. We can love in disagreement. Leaders like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., and Desmond Tutu, to name a few, have already shown us how to love those who only know hate. Fear is not love; separation is not love; pain is not love; suffering is not love; nasty comments are not love; sarcasm is not love. Hate is not love.
