91 degrees and sweaty this afternoon 🥵 but you’ve got to work with what you’ve got. ✅ 30 minute tabata cycling ✅ 30 minute yoga flow ✅ 10 minute core restore As a SAHM I find my best workout time to be in the afternoon when I can manage to get both kiddos napping at the same time - which is rough with this weather and it being the hottest part of the day!! ⁣ 𝐓𝐔𝐂𝐊 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐇! Jumping into tuck was the very first handstand I found some hang time in. The condensed form allowed me to find the balancing line easier than legs all the way overhead. Then, from there I focused on my shoulders...actively pushing away from the ground and shrugging the tops of my shoulders towards my ears. Once I became acclimated to being upside down, I started trying to raise my legs to straight and hold handstands. Personally, I found this approach more accessible than trying to one leg quick into handstand. For years, I practiced in the front row of a yoga class and practiced jumping into a tuck from downward facing dog towards the top of the mat. Your body creates muscle memory and you soon know the exact jump to feel the hips (in an anterior tilt ) stack directly over the shoulders. It’s a fun and playful entry! Fancy is fun but basics are better. Okay, better is relative but they are far more productive. Yet most people get so caught up in the insignificant details of their training without starting with the basics. Working on the basic will get you further than any fancy exercises or loading strategies. Learning how to properly Squat, Deadlift, Pushup and Row. Everything else, is just fancy. For example, there are some really cool machines to train calves. Tbh they can let you load a TON of weight, which is fun! But you’re going to be hard pressed to beat single single leg dumbbell calf raise. I was literally sore for days. It’s great! Make sure on your raises you get up as high on the ball of your foot as possible, and hold briefly. Make sure when you lower you drop heel straight down versus back. It only makes the rest better, if we’re already working on the basics. Learning to master the basics is a big goal, but one well worth the investment. Ready to Start Training Smarter? Link in Bio

Try to make changes and end back up in the same spot again again? Weight loss? Health? Exercise? Fitness goals? Relationship? Career? Finance? Sound familiar? You may be sabotaging your own success. What are things to look out for regarding self-sabotaging behaviors: 1. Blame instead of ownership 2. Quitting or walking away when things don’t go perfectly according to plans 3. Procrastination and feeling overwhelmed 4. Nitpicking, nagging, and starting fights with friends or loved ones or your partner. 5. Making bad decisions 6. Difficulty saying what you want or need 7. Low self-esteem and/or often making self-deprecating remarks. The first step is the awareness and understanding that YOU may be getting in your own way. Just that awareness is the first step towards change. In the next couple of posts I will write about further steps that you can take.

WISHING MY LIFE AWAY? I am happy to stay teaching online, happy to wear a mask, happy to socially distance to help protect lives, but I look forward to a time when these things aren’t needed.
