Y’all, it’s been quite a week already and I am soooooo happy to be done with work tomorrow morning. I’ve managed to stay on track during this crazy week in the NICU by doing a little bit of prep work, and eating the same breakfast and lunch pretty much everyday. Dinners we ate out a few times but kept it healthy and also had some healthy choices in the freezer. Another day, another easy dinner. 🍝 @raoshomemade sauce over roasted spaghetti squash with blistered tomatoes + garlic, basil and parm! I also made garlic toast out of English muffins and it TOTALLY took me back to my childhood. Anyone else’s mom make garlic bread out of whatever bread was in the pantry? Hamburger buns? Makeup used to be my thing I could spend so much time putting it on and for the longest time I used to think it was nuts to want to spend so much time on something...⁣ ⁣ Until I took a class in Vegas all about rituals and the instructor even spoke about how adorning ones self wasn’t about being narcissistic it was the ritual of doing something no matter what it was that made someone feel better about themselves!⁣ ⁣ Then I gained a shit ton of weight and couldn’t bare to look at the girl staring back at me...⁣ ⁣ I stopped!⁣ ⁣ Something I loved so much got pushed aside and I went to just some simple eyeliner cause I was sick of people telling me I looked “tired” full bare faced...⁣ ⁣ I purged my makeup table last night and made a promise to myself that at least 3x a week I would make myself up and I would face myself cause weight gain or weight loss I was still the same person and that person deserves to do something that she LOVES!

With school starting in one week, it’s time I figure out how to live life before 8am again—that’s my biggest intention this week. I need to establish a solid morning routing that includes my workout cuz that’s the most ideal place for my workout to live. Confession! I haven’t opened my tracker or worked out in over a week. I was coming off of major vacation relaxation rhythm nation vibes & they just couldn’t be stopped this week (coupled with major anxiety about the upcoming school year—mostly the uncertainty ). I felt my feelings, gave myself enough grace for the whole country & didn’t really feel that great in the process. This last week continued to prove to me why I LOVE & NEED to move my body & eat foods that make me feel good. Not for weight loss or the scale but cuz it makes me feel good. And that’s the only reason I need. I’m still working on consistency but, hey. We’ll get there. Have a fabulous week my friends. Running sounds like one of the worst activities in the world. I remember coming up with every excuse in the book to not run in PE class. And when we did run I was always last; every time. I’ve never really wanted to run. But, while digging into @onepeloton digital, I have learned to loved to challenge myself. And running sure is a challenge area for me. Bootcamps are some of my favorite Peloton classes (esp with my dude @adrianwilliamsnyc )—they’re about 50% treadmill running & 50% floor strength. I love them. But they involve running?? Sprinkling in little bits of running, starting out at my own pace & walking when I need to all lets me know that I CAN RUN. Each time I push myself more & more. Going for longer, getting faster. I’m not gonna be trying to run any marathons anytime soon, but I could (try ) if I wanted to. I can do whatever I set my mind to. We can do hard things. We can do things that for years we told ourselves that we couldn’t, that others told us we couldn’t or that we thought weren’t for us. We can. Had a great family lake/camping weekend! Gearing up for another lake weekend with adults only (HOLLA💃🏻🤩 ). Spent a lot of time in a swimsuit the last few days. Gonna be spending even more this upcoming weekend. While in my suit, I bounce around between this series of thoughts: 1 ) I’m strong af; who cares what I look like; 2 ) I’ve come a long way, even tho I’m not exactly where I wana be; 3 ) yikes; 4 ) maybe I should just keep my cover up on; 5 ) why couldn’t I have done more or worked harder; 6 ) I’m 19mo postpartum WTF; 7 ) I’m thankful for my body; 8 ) I’m more firm, toned & 10lbs/a lot of inches less than I was last summer; 9 ) no one cares what I look like as much as I do; 10 ) why are slimmer bodies more “acceptable”??; 11 ) that’s a societal norm that’s trash garbage nonsense & you know that.; 12 ) all bodies are beach bodies; 13 ) I feel good; 14 ) I don’t feel good; 15 ) it is what it is; 16 ) I’m a work in progress & that’s okay! All of these feelings are real & valid & run through my head on a loop. Yet still I carry on wearing the swimsuit; trying to focus on the positive thoughts yet respecting my feelings that aren’t. Those negative thoughts don’t deserve much of my attention but I have to acknowledge them. I’m human & I’m not trying to become robot. You gotta feel your feelings. Just can’t let the negative stuff take over or take precedent. I just wanted to share that I’m not out here 100% confident think happy thoughts all day, because that’s not the truth. But, I’m not willing to miss out on life just cuz I’m still working through the ‘stuff’. You can be proud of yourself/happy-ish with where you are & still want for more. That right there is a cup of potatoes. Not 1/4 or 1/2 but a whole cup. Cuz why? Cuz I fricken love potatoes. On my salads I have F👏🏻I👏🏻V👏🏻E tablespoons of dressing, honey. Why? Cuz I liiiikkkeeeee it! I know I’m gonna want these things & these amounts, so I plan for them. Listen, I know myself. I will end up dumping on extra tablespoons of dressing on if there’s not enough so why not just account for it from the start & enjoy your dang food. You should do this with the foods you love & be HONEST with yourself! & then scale it back where it’s not so important to you. This is balance to me. Would I love a life where I ate cool ranch Doritos for every meal? Yes. But I know that’s not gonna make me feel good. Two weeks into quarantine I thought: wouldn’t it just be like sOo CRAZY if I started working out & taking time for myself? Like what if I just give it a lil whirl. Cut to me 3.5mo later with a ballin’ on a budget home-gym that I love & just hit my 200th @onepeloton digital class. I hide down here when the world is too much & in doing so I find myself getting mentally + physically stronger everyday. Oprah says that alone time is when we distance ourselves from the voices of the world so that we can hear our own. Time alone—focusing on me, makes me better for when I’m with others. I’m doing better than I ever was - @taylorswift . For the last 9 days, I have set an alarm for 5am. For the last 9 days, I completed 3 miles every day. I’ve always said “I CAN’T get up early and exercise.” I always placed blame on reasons other than my own choices. Truth is I just didn’t want to. I would rather sleep in. Or most definitely scroll social media and get in a few games of #emojiblitz 😜 . But I can do difficult things. . I have been successful with my exercise. I am seeing positive changes in all aspects of my day to day life but the biggest change is my A T T I T U D E. 🙌🏼 . Peanut Butter Cookies (3sp ) 🍪 #WWAmbassador     Y’all ready for the easiest most peanut buttery cookie recipe ever???? And that’s not even the best part because this is only 3 main ingredients! 🤩     Natural Peanut Butter (1 Cup )  Sugar (6 TBS )  Egg (1 )     You can definitely use almond butter or any other type of nut butter (just not the fake processed stuff ). I prefer the natural peanut butter from Costco which is called “Kirkland Signature Organic Peanut Butter” — It’s SOOOO good and creamy.     I use 1 TBS per cookie and roll it into a ball. I then place it on a sprayed baking sheet and criss cross them with a fork. TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY 💛 From 2015 ➡️ 2019 I’ve been looking through my camera roll to find a recent picture of me and it’s just crazy that for almost the last 6 months I have no pictures of myself... it was like time stood still with covid/quarantine 😳 So this is the best I could do to show a transformation from my heaviest weight (210 lbs ) to a more recent picture. I love seeing so many features change: my eyes, my eyebrows (lol ), my skin, my hair, everything is changing while I am improving my health and what I fuel my body with. Instead of junk food every day, I’ve learned balance and control.
