5 Things You NEED To Understand About Weightloss🤭👇🏼: ••• ⓵ You can’t choose where you lose fat from🤷🏼‍♀️ ⇢ We all lose fat from different places first - some from their butt, some their boobs, some the arms, some the legs, some the hips and some the stomach.. the only way to lose fat where you want to is to continue dieting until you naturally lose fat from the desired area. • ⓶ Everyone has abs😏 ⇢ Abs are a group of muscles we all have lying under a layer of fat. The amount of fat you hold AND the size of the ab muscles determines how visible your abs are.. you can grow your ab muscles with resistance training but you must also lose fat to make them more visible! • ⓷ The only zero calorie food is Water💧 ⇢ Even foods considered ‘free’ foods contain a small amount of calories - no matter what the label claims! • ⓸ If you’re gaining weight - you’re eating too much!😱 ⇢ Many factors influence HOW MUCH we eat & how hungry we are ) hormones, sleep, anxiety, depression, stress, metabolic adaptation, medications, menopause, pre-menstrual, habits, food environment, social pressures, health conditions... BUT they are not the cause of being overweight or not being able to lose weight — eating more than you need - is. • ⓹ No food is ‘fattening’, not even FAT😯 ⇢ Unless you’re consuming too many calories overall. Total calorie balance is what matters for fat loss. You will only store EXCESS energy as fat. ••• Did any of these surprise you? What did you learn?🤗👇🏼 •••

🩺 #T1D CHECKUP: I had my endocrinologist telemedicine visit on @doximity ! It’s useful being on the other side of care and observing professional interaction. What are your thoughts on chickpea pasta?? 👍 or 👎?? I love that it’s lower in carbs and higher in protein compared to traditional pasta but still offers a ton of flavor! Otherwise it’ll end up sticky and gummy. ) . 📷 New 30 min dinner recipe 👉 CREAMY CHICKPEA PASTA WITH SPINACH & ROSEMARY ... recipe is linked in my bio! __________ #milknhoneynutrition #chickpeas #pastadinner #dinnertime #easydinner . . . . . #rdapproved #dietitian #whatdietitianseat #prettyfood #eatgoodfeelgood #eatrealfood #healthyeats #foodforthought #glutenfree #glutenfreefood #glutenfreelife #type1diabetic #t1dlookslikeme #diabetes #type1 #type1diabetes #houstonfood #foodblogger #houstonmom #t1d #rdeats

Hoy fue uno de esos días.... ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Día difícil, hiperglicemia que no baja por nada del mundo. Corrección tras correccion y no mejora.

Over the years I’ve found so many things help manage my #typeonediabetes but nothing helps me more than a good workout. ⠀ ⠀ The me of 8 years ago would have laughed hysterical at me for saying that lol. I wasn’t always this way. But then again 8 years ago I wasn’t even attempting to actively manage my #diabetes and was taking almost TRIPLE the amount of insulin intake now. 🤯😳⠀ ⠀ Now it’s a HUGE part of how I increase my insulin resistance. It’s a way for me to help keep my sugars lower. It’s how I sweat out a bad day 🤪⠀ ⠀ The me today is so proud that I got over the fear of starting a workout and just went for it. The me today is proud I stopped letting limiting beliefs tell me I could never do something. The me today is grateful that I’m ABLE to move my body every day. ⠀ ⠀ We’ve all found ways to manage our health and I’m curious to know if any of my fellow #t1d friends use exercise as a way to manage your own diabetes and how you’ve seen it help. Share with me so I continue to be amazed and so spited by you!!

Shower urgent lows are TERRIFYING and nobody can tell me otherwise. I was bad at consistently wearing my Dexcom when it was the G4 / G5 and wouldn’t wanna wear it because the insertion process was a literal pain. Myth #1 “Diabetics shouldn’t participate in sports or exercise because it is dangerous” This myth is likely based on the idea that low blood sugar is dangerous. Prolonged or extremely low blood sugars ARE very dangerous but diabetics also have to keep their bodies healthy through physical activity or exercise. Exercise makes muscles and bones healthy. It also improves mood and overall function. Without health, diabetics could experience extra complications. There are a few extra things that must be considered but it is still possible to be a diabetic who is very active, dancing, exercise, or even triathlons are not banished just because of diabetes! Regular exercise is proven to help diabetics manage their blood sugar and is recommended by doctors. As long as they pay attention to their blood sugar, and eat a snack when appropriate, sports and exercise are very beneficial! Exercise not only helps with blood sugar, but it is also tied to heart health, weight management, mood, and so much more! What is YOUR favorite physical activity?? Comment below! Line dancing and ballroom dancing are my favorites! 💃🏽 #CheeverWellness #Diabetes #diabetic #type1 #type1diabetes #wellness #healthiswealth #health #T1D #diabetic

Hey guys! Since Ohio reopened a couple months ago, work has picked up a lot which is good (from a business standpoint ). I’m back to working my normal schedule. If you’re in public, please cover you nose and mouth with a mask or face shield! And please be kind to sales associates ! We’re just trying to get by like the rest of y’all. • Today I picked up some of my text books for sophomore year. I’m excited to start clinicals in a few weeks! My school is doing a mix of online and in person classes. All lecture were moved to online but labs and clinicals will remain in person. I’m looking forward to seeing my college friends again and learning new things. • My family and I have been visiting a local ice cream shops every Sunday on what my mom calls our “Soft Serve Ice Cream Tour 2020”. So far we have visited Flub’s, The Cone, and Sweden Creme. If you’re from the greater cincinnati area and know of some places that have good soft serve ice cream, please let me know : ) • I hope y’all are taking care of yourselves and your loved ones. Please stay home as much as possible for now and to wear a face a face covering if you are in public. I never expect to like or even care about breastfeeding; I never realized how important it would end up being to me. I was worried that my daughter’s traumatic birth was going to impact our bond. We didn’t get immediate skin to skin, she met many others before meeting me. Breastfeeding helped us make up for lost time. As a mama with a chronic disease, I am used to mitigating disaster at a moment’s notice, and am used to things not working out exactly the way I would like. I was so pleasantly surprised by how natural breastfeeding came to both of us. Not every day was easy, the mastitis came in hot a few times, and we definitely had peaks and valleys. But overall, breastfeeding taught me to never settle, never sell myself short. My body is MUCH more capable than I ever realized. Our journey is such a gift to me, for all it taught me and how it deepened our connection. ❌ i hate running ❌ i could have said no to this program.i could have easily kept going at the program i fell in love with prior to this.i could have easily used being a mom with no one to watch gunnar while i run as a “legitimate” excuse.or my favorite go to ive used my whole life to avoid running, “my sugars low, sorry, i can’t”. and this is completely out of my comfort zone. BUT👏HERE👏I👏AM because i did say yes to this program.because i can go back to ANY of my programs after this.bc gunnar has been my workout buddy since he was in my belly, why stop now? bc my diabetes isn’t an excuse for anything. being out of my comfort zone is only going to lead me to somewhere new.somewhere magical.somewhere ive never experienced. and while it may suck in the moment [running in florida is the devils work], finishing has been a pretty dang awesome feeling. #getoutofyourcomfortzone #youcandohardthings #newmama #type1diabetes #t1dlookslikeme #goalcrusher #beachbody #beachbodycoach #realizeyourworthtribe #runningsucks

Now this interview was special to me. Last year @SeankJensen interviewed me for an article for @NBCSportsEngine . While I was in Hong Kong last fall for the World Cup, I received a text form Sean that his 12-year-old son, Elijah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It truly hit me that everything happens for a reason and that sometimes we are meant to meet people in life. I’m so happy we connected. Sean is an awesome individual and also an author of ‘The Middle School Rule’ series, which tells the childhood stories of world-class athletes. Get in your yard, Close the gate, kick eveyone out and learn how to tend to your OWN yard. Imagine the flowers that you want planted, what drink you're sippin on, and who you want to join you! Trully envision what it is that you want! Because the beauty around you starts with YOU! And the vision of your life begins when you decide what seeds you want to plant and do the work it takes to see the growth! I'm still learning this, but what I have learned is that when we stop making the excuses as to why our lives aren't the way we want and just GO FOR IT! That is when the magic happens. So stop with the next weeks, stop with the maybe next times, stop with the I don't have the resources. And just plant the first seed, and I promise you won't regret what comes from it!

So happy to be back at the gym! With that said, I am being extra careful as I still need to worry about my health. I’ve also yet to go low at the gym! Something I hear a lot when I tell people I’m diabetic is “it must’ve been hard for you to adjust” and I always have to respond by explaining that I was 3 at diagnosis and I literally can’t remember life before diabetes. This made me think about the ‘things I’d tell myself at diagnosis’ posts that people have put up, which are so great! But for those of us that have never lived without diabetes I wanted to do a little post to just explain to non-diabetics or newly diagnosed people how it feels. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When I get asked how I adjusted to life when I was diagnosed, I just feel bad for my parents tbh 😂 I was 3, I remember being diagnosed and taken to the hospital but only in tiny snippets. I remember screaming when people came towards me with huge syringes and needles, watching my friends eat sweets I couldn’t have. I think it’s a blessing and a curse that I was so young. A blessing because I can’t remember life before so I guess I can’t miss what I never had. A curse because I am more likely to get complications because next year will be my 20th diaversary and I’m only 22 now.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Sometimes I feel guilty because I sit down for a meal and I watch people tuck in around me without giving it a second thought and I’m filled with jealousy and frustration because I just wish for one day in my life where I could eat meals without injecting or worrying about counting carbs. A night without waking up for BG checks and eating sugar I don’t want because my BG is low. A night without trying to inject in the dark so I don’t wake my boyfriend up when he has work the next day. I do think I’m lucky that I can’t remember life without it because I don’t have to grieve a life I have lost, but I feel like I grieve a life I could’ve had? Can you tell I’m conflicted 😂⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Basically: being diagnosed at any age sucks. There are pros and cons to both (even though the whole thing is one big con ). Just wanted to come on here and tell it from my perspective 🥰 #diabetes #type1diabetes #diabeteseducation #livingwithdiabetes #t1d #t1dlookslikeme #t1dawareness

I have a new job in customer service since 2 months! I haven't talked about it much on here. Just wanted to share that I'm happy and I genuinely enjoy it! 😍 The job is for 32 hours a week and I'm starting to realise that it's enough work hours in one week for me. Working 5 days (40 hours ) a week would absolutely not benefit my health. The 3-day-weekend is necessary for me to catch my breath and unwind. On one hand I'm glad this is an option for me financially. On the other hand, I work hard to make it happen. I still do some freelance work with girl0ninsulin as well. If you have any questions about T1D and a (new ) job, feel free to ask! ⁣ ⁣ Let's get to know each other! What do you do for a living? ⬇️

The Strong Type 💪🏼👊🏼✊🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was killing the Diabetes game. January, February, March, April, May- DONE. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ June was a stressful month for a few reasons, for a lot of people- I was sad, I wasn’t eating, I lost 7 or 8lbs, I felt stressed. I hit a wall, I needed a break. I took my Dexcom off for a week, I put it back on, I ONLY addressed my blood sugars when my G6 beeped at me. I corrected, and then I did nothing until the next time it beeped at me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had an appointment with my dietician and my endocrinologist early July and I was honest with them- “I haven’t given anything any attention since May 30th.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And you know what? They were fine with it. No one gasped. There was no lecture. My T1D team is Ah-mazing. Their non-reaction actually picked me up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I kind of mentally acknowledged that I had needed a break, it was fine, I was fine, I AM FINE. And now I’m back in a happy medium of not over analyzing the numbers, of enjoying crazy homemade sundaes with my boys, of not raging but just correcting when I carb count incorrectly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wherever you are today, it’s all good. You Diabetes your Diabetes however you need to❤️💪🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

hands up 🙌🏻 if you relate to this !! . diabetes effects SO many areas of our lives. for me the first few years of my diagnosis, I was STRESSED, FRUSTRATED....& OBSESSED with keep my blood sugar in range. I feared the life-threatening complications that my doctors talked about. So I became obsessed with being the P E R F E C T diabetic. I didn't realize the effects that my self-management was having on my mental health😣 . its common to feel guilty, anxious or ashamed when you see see a high blood sugar and want to RAGE bolus🥵 but these negatives feelings won't help🙅🏼‍♀️ instead lead with kindness, compassion and understanding to reflect, learn and move on. Taking time for positive self-reflection can improve the way you associate yourself to your numbers. you are more than the number on your meter🙌🏻 . If you are feeling stressed and frustrated with managing your blood sugar use the ✨link in bio✨to apply to work with me📝 I help diabetics feel confident in managing their blood sugar so they can spend less time worrying about them🙌🏻 . . . #diabetesmanagement #diabeteslifestyle #allfoodsfit #enjoylife #intuitiveeating #chronicillnesswarrior #diabeticrecipes #diabeticdessert #eatbetternotless #healthyeating #bloodsugarbalance #bloodsugarcontrol #balanceddiet #diabetesfriendly #type1diabetes #typeonediabetes #typeonestrong #diabeticfood #diabeticlife #t1dlookslikeme #t1dawareness #diabetesselfmanagement #allfoodsfit #allfoodsaregoodfoods #flexibleseating #mindfuleating #balanceddiet
