“I just love bossy women. I could be around them all day. To me, bossy is not a pejorative term at all. It means somebody's passionate and engaged and ambitious and doesn't mind leading” . . I’m blessed to be surrounded by these bosses that are coaching me to success! . . I always knew I was a boss, but needed a little money & guidance. Thanks to TLC for bringing us dope women together and making things happen for me! . . . DISCLAIMER: We as a company make 0 guarantees on income. One year ago today I entered the TV news industry! I sold almost everything I had and only packed what could fit into my car and moved to Peoria, Illinois to work at WMBD News. I was one year out of college trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life, but I never imagined that my career would start in the midwest(I’m a Texas girl through and through lol ). However, I was so eager to get my foot in the door I didn't even think twice about the offer. It's definitely been a journey and I've made a lot of sacrifices but it's been worth it. I'm so proud of myself and my growth. I've met and created amazing relationships with other black professionals that have contributed to my growth and success. From how I talk, write, dress, and carry myself has been a learning process but I THANK everyone who has supported and encouraged me. I definitely have A LOT more learning and growing to do and can’t wait to see where I am at a year from now! • • • • • #newslife 📺🎥 #tvnewslife #reporterlife #peoria #illinois #growth #blacksuccess #blackgirlmagic #succesfulblackwomen #lovetoseeit #blackjournalist

Dear black peoples, don’t participate in this. History has shown many experiments where they killed you. If we all have same human blood, let them test their own people who are the majority of USA. The result should be representative for all groups. The devil is a liar! #covid19

Thank you @ashaabena .20 ❤️ I am a BLACK WOMAN!..... I BUILD.... I don't tear down other BLACK WOMEN! I have felt the pain of being torn down and I have decided I will be deliberate about building others! If I didn't tag you, please don't be offended. I tried to pick people I thought would do this challenge!! All too often, we women find it easier to criticize each other, instrad of building each other up. With all the negativity going around lets do some positive!! ❤️ Upload one picture of yourself with just you alone and then tag as many sisters to do the same. Let's build ourselves up, instead of tearing ourselves down. 🖤🖤 COPY AND PASTE 🖤🖤. If I tagged you, don't dissapoint me.✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 #blackwoman #blacklivesmatter #succesfulblackwomen

A lot has happened this year and I found that a way I cope with things is by speaking and writing about them. However, it’s been a downtime for me recently, struggling to put things into words. But my righteous indignation towards the thing my people have been going through has fueled me to address somethings and finally release my blog. In addition, a team of people and I have come together to try and do the little we can as students. Check out my blog and discussion forum. The link is in my bio. Feel free to add anything or DM me to talk. If you want to do more to help the BLM movement, contact me. We will get through this together😊💛 #blogger #blacklivesmatter #blackgirlskillingit #successfulwomen #succesfulblackwomen #naturalhairstyles #afro #naturalafro #naturalpuff #glowingbrownskin #brownskingirl #blackandwhite #blackisbeautifull #blackbloggers #blackgirlsrock #yorubagirlskillingit #yorubagirlsrock #yorubagirls #yorubagirlsconnect #blackgirlsslay @yorubagirlskillingit @yorubalandconnection #blackgirlmagic #blackgirlmagic#blackgirlmagic 👑 @yoruba .women #yorubawomen #yorubawoman #melaninpoppin #melaninqueen #melaninmagic #melaninpopping

Whether you’re working in the private, public sector or creative industry, we have all experienced or heard of experiences involving some form of internal or external restriction relating to race. These restrictions have left us questioning our abilities, feeling excluded, intimidated, invisible, demotivated or with low self esteem. These feelings can also be heightened being both a woman AND ethnic minority - two characteristics considered to be a limiting factor. Many of us are used to working in environments surrounded by only a handful of other women of colour. We often find that our colleagues, managers and other senior figures are not a representation of us. This poses the question, when we feel vulnerable or restricted at work, who do we go to and who is speaking up for us? * Does this encourage or discourage us from working in these spaces and aspiring for senior or Board level positions? * What is the short term impact on our career progression and what is the long term impact on our morale? * Do we see this narrative changing or should we work on creating our own spaces and opportunities?
