Recovery Sundays - Pushing into week 3 of our 6 week return to training program - And we need to remember; Recovery is important! It’s the most overlooked part of training, a couple of simple principles to ensure good recovery to go again next week; - Sleep: aim for 6-8 hours a night - Hydration: about a litre of water for every 20-30kgs of body weight - Get moving: on rest days, go for a light walk or easy bike ride to keep your body moving! - Food: eat whole nutritious foods the majority of the time, enjoy the traditional “junk” foods and booze the minority of the time - We’re currently working on nutrition strategies to help ensure our members are consistently progressing - Using the same principles that get used for programming; periodisation - With the old saying “methods are many, principles are few. Methods can change, principles never do” - This is to make sure that rather than getting the member to fit to the method, the method fits the person! - Have a great Sunday whatever you’re doing! - #StrengthCo

How can you manage your hunger to support adherence and consistency? 🤔👇🏼 . So at some point in dieting for prolonged periods, especially as you get leaner, you can expect to experience some forms of hunger, and having the right strategies and behaviours in place can be really helpful in minimising these from inhibiting sustainability, adherence, overall progress and eventually long term maintenabce . 🍗 Prioritise Protein, arguably the most filling macronutrient that will aid in long term fullness, help control calorie intake and support lean body mass 🥬 Eat fibre, no you dont need to live on salads to lose weight, but high fibre foods like vegetables aid in adding volume to your plate without all the calories and slow digestion of food 🤤 Prioritise & Combine foods that are both Satiating and higher in volume (such as pumpkin, salad and chicken thigh ) for a filling meal while controlling energy intake 🥑 Dont avoid fat, it may be slightly more calorie dense than protein & carbs but its also highly satiating and an essential nutrient in managing hormones and hunger 🥤Dont drink your calories, liquid calories digest faster and often dont keep you full for very long, opt for coffee/tea without milk & sugar (or minimal ), sparkling water and sugar free drinks (on occasion ) 🤔 Understand the difference between real hunger, cravings and boredom and how to manage your approach to dealing with these 🖐🏼 Consider delaying your first meal of the day, especially if you're not hungry, shortening your eating window makes it easier to eat less 🏃‍♂️ Increase energy expenditure via daily walks, higher intensity training 2-3x per week, social activities that require movement and implement daily activity in your life to allow you to lose/manage weight on higher calories 😴 Prioritise sleep, aim for 7-9 hours of quality deep, unbroken sleep. A proper night sleep can promote reduced appetite, reduce cravings, balance out appetite managing hormones, increase daily movement and improve insulin sensitivity (less likely to store glucose as body fat )
