Πως λειτουργεί το μυαλό μας; Σύμφωνα με τη Γνωσιακή Συμπεριφοριστική Θεραπεία (ΓΣΘ ) δεν είναι τα γεγονότα καθαυτά που καθορίζουν τον τρόπο που νιώθουμε, αλλά το πώς ο καθένας μας τα αντιλαμβάνεται. Ο τρόπος που αντιλαμβανόμαστε τις καταστάσεις επηρεάζει τόσο τα συναισθήματά μας, όσο και τη συμπεριφορά μας. Η ΓΣΘ μελετά τις •Γνωσίες, δηλαδή τις σκέψεις, τις πεποιθήσεις, τις αντιλήψεις, τα γνωστικά σχήματα με τα οποία ερμηνεύουμε τον εαυτό, τον κόσμο και τους άλλους. -Σύμφωνα με το σκίτσο το μυαλό μπορεί να γίνει ιδιαίτερα εφευρετικό, έτσι ώστε να διατηρήσει τα γνωστικά σχήματα ως έχουν, ακόμη και όταν εκείνα είναι δυσλειτουργικά και μη βοηθητικά, υπονομεύοντας πολλές φορές την ποιότητα ζωής, τις σχέσεις και την αντίληψη για τον ίδιο τον εαυτό! Προσκολλημένοι, λοιπόν, εκεί δίνεται μια «ψευδής» αίσθηση ασφάλειας και οικειότητας, απορρίπτοντας, υποτιμώντας ή «αδιαφορώντας» συνειδητά ή ασυνείδητα για κάθε ερέθισμα που εμφανίζεται και μπορεί να συμβάλλει στην ανατροπή ή την αναδιαμόρφωση των σχημάτων σκέψης σε πιο βοηθητικές, λειτουργικές και προστατευτικές για τον εαυτό.- Το δεύτερο αλλά εξίσου σημαντικό σκέλος της ΓΣΘ είναι η μελέτη της •Συμπεριφοράς, δηλαδή η σύνδεση μεταξύ των διαφόρων μορφών συμπεριφοράς και των συνθηκών μέσα στις οποίες εμφανίζονται. Αυτοί οι δυο τομείς και οι τεχνικές τους λειτουργούν συνδυαστικά για την επίλυση προβληματικών καταστάσεων και δυσκολιών που αντιμετωπίζει το άτομο. •Σύμφωνα με μια δεύτερη βασική αρχή κάθε μορφή συμπεριφοράς είναι μαθημένη, και επομένως μπορεί να τροποποιηθεί μέσα από μία νέα διαδικασία μάθησης. •Χαρακτηρίζεται ως επί το πλείστον από την εστίαση στο παρόν και την επίλυση των προβλημάτων που απασχολούν τον θεραπευόμενο την περίοδο που ζητάει βοήθεια. •Στόχος της θεραπείας είναι ο θεραπευόμενος, μέσα από την ενεργό συμμετοχή του και τη συνεργασία με τον θεραπευτή, να αναγνωρίσει και να κατανοήσει τον τρόπο που ο ίδιος ερμηνεύει τα γεγονότα της ζωής του, αλλά και τη σχέση ανάμεσα στις σκέψεις, τα συναισθήματα και τη συμπεριφορά του. @yourpsychologylab #ψυχολογι ́α #ψυχολο ́γος #psychology #psychologist

Pleased to share some new research by myself and colleagues at Birkbeck, University of London, published in peer reviewed journal Frontiers in Psychology, and captured today by The Telegraph indicating the adverse mental health implications that the COVID-19 lockdown has had on women affected by breast cancer. Specifically, our findings demonstrate that the indirect consequences of COVID-19 (i.e. oncology treatment disruption and behaviour change requirements ) resulted in poorer cognitive and emotional health outcomes for women affected by primary breast cancer. In addition, findings show that COVID-19 related distress was a significant predictor for worse outcomes of anxiety, depression and perceived cognitive function. We advocate that future government preparedness plans consider the mental health implications of pandemics, particularly among already vulnerable populations. Accordingly, appropriate eHealth interventions, which are accessible during periods of shielding and social distancing, should be rapidly implemented. This fabulous illustration by @abbey_lossing adorns the cover of my latest read. Massively researched and referenced, Survival of the Friendliest - Understanding Our Origins and Rediscovering our Common Humanity (pic 2 ) by Brian Hare and Vanessa Woods covers similar territory to Rutger Bregman’s absorbing new book, Humankind, but focuses more on the evidence of evolutionary anthropology. I was fascinated by the extreme contrast between the behaviours of two of our primate ancestors – the aggressive and fearful chimpanzees and the loving and welcoming bonobos. In a similar way that dogs developed from wolves, domestication was the critical change which allowed humans to organise ourselves into large inclusive groups which welcome strangers. This not only created our capacity for kindness and inclusiveness which was critical to our evolutionary success but conversely is also responsible for our extreme cruelty and tendency to dehumanise and ‘other’ those we perceive as a threat to our group. It’s a fascinating and enlightening read and explains a lot of how any of us can be both angel and demon and how, for example, the hateful tribalism of Brexit was enabled to become so divisive. .

Metacognition (the act of becoming aware of your own awareness ) is a pinnacle place to discover how it is we perceive. Different people can have the same exact experience yet perceive it entirely differently. The way we perceive an event is important to note. It contains vital information about our individual bluprint. It can often reveal to us insights about the way we've been imprinted with various programming. From this awareness, we can consciously choose to reprogram the places in our perception that don't align with our intentions or integrity. The practice of metacognition while experiencing something that's upsetting to you takes it to an entirely other level...it's here that you can really see what's going on in the psyche and start to unpack the garbage. I'd highly recommend trying it the next time you find yourself upset or agitated. Take even just a minute to pause and notice the sensations that arise...what information do those sensations give you about how you process stress? 🤔 Perception is an invitation to revelation. Be aware of your awareness y'all. ♥️

Me encanta recomendar libros! 🤍✨ Siempre me ha gustado mucho leer, y lo pueden ver en que generalmente mis frases son de notas que voy haciendo de los libros que leo. Últimamente ha sido complicado encontrar el tiempo para leer, y me he tenido que quitar el prejuicio de escuchar un audiolibro (te confieso que no me encantaba la idea ), sentía que se perdía la satisfacción tan bonita de pasar página tras página. Y la verdad, ha sido una experiencia súper grata! 😅 me encanta escucharlos mientras voy a caminar en las mañanas, aunque siga dormida. En fin, te recomiendo estos 6 libros desde un lugar súper personal. Cada uno de ellos me ha ayudado en diferentes aspectos y en diferentes etapas. Algunos los leí en prepa, y los releí recién egresada de uni, para nada fue la misma experiencia! Remember your first year of practice? Remember all the things you wish you would’ve known before you started working and seeing patients? I baked them alllll up and put them on a platter for all my new grad Nurse Practitioners! 1. As soon as your pass your certification exam do the following things: apply for a NPI number, apply for your controlled drug certification (for your practice state ), and apply for your federal DEA license and number. Then apply in ‘CAQH’ which is how you get credentialed with different insurance companies. Having these things makes you an ideal candidate. While some providers want these things to be reimbursed by their jobs, waiting on the CDS and DEA can take over a month! DO NOT SHARE YOUR DEA AND xDEA NUMBER! DO NOT GIVE OUT PHYSICAL SCRIPS!!!! 2. Build a BOMB A$$ RESUME! It takes money to make money. Having a well organized resume that highlights quickly what I can do as a provider makes me have an edge in the job market. Recruiters spend less than 5 minutes scanning over a resume. Take out jargon. 3. Resources! My favorite drug references are stahls and Lexicomp. It’s important to be able to know what a medication’s starting dose is & how quickly you can safely titrate the medication. I also love Lexicomp for checking interactions with medications the patient may already be on. I also follow some dope accounts: my favorite is @lifeofapsychNP with all his drug info and YouTube videos. 4. What is your ideal job?
