HIIT Workout Routine 1. Burpees 2. Pistol Squats 3. Push Ups 4. Spider Man Plank 5. Hip Dip Plank 6. Hip Thrust Plank Try doing 10 reps of each exercise with no break in between. STRONG LEGS! My legs have always been a strong point, mainly because I was overweight for a large part of my life so they had no choice but to carry around excess weight. Plus I love training legs - squats, deadlifts, lunges are my 3 fav exercises. But Strong legs in the gym are VERY different from strong running legs... It’s a different ball game out on the hills and just because you can squat 150kg doesn’t mean you have strong legs! Try running (or walking ) for 1 mile up hill and you’ll soon find out that your ‘gym legs’ are in fact, WEAK. PS - How cool is this photo 👌🏻😂

Fancy a big Wednesday WOD? Give “Craig David" from the RedPill Generic Programme #RPG a go! As soon as you break a movement, move on to the next movement. Continue until you have accumulated all reps on all movements. If you finish the wall balls first then, just continue rotating around the remaining three movements and continue this process, until all exercises are done. You may be chipping away on 1 exercise to finish. A break in pistols is a either a no rep or longer than 3 breaths rest. GET YOUR FIRST PISTOL SQUAT! - What’s up, Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here and today we’re talking about pistol squats! In this video, I outline our process for helping our members achieve their first pistol. Now, keep in mind, the pistol squat greatly develops single leg strength, but it’s not for everyone. If you feel like it isn’t for you, you can still easily develop single leg strength through lunges, single leg squats, and step ups instead of performing a full pistol squat. - For the pistol, you need a tremendous amount of mobility throughout your hips, knees, and ankle, and if you don’t have the mobility, oftentimes the knees or lower back take some of that stress. - However, it’s just a cool skill to be able to acquire, and plus you can show it off as a party trick so people often want to learn how to do it. - We hope this progression and this post helped you out! STOP DOING PISTOL SQUATS🚨🛑Here’s a superior version shown by my awesome client @kim .schaper . I’m really not a big fan of pistol squats. Why? Because they emphasize contortionist mechanics (similar to many extreme positions in YOGA ) that can lead to injury & inflammation. No they don’t enhance mobility or quality of movement like many coaches erroneously believe. Instead they often degrade mobility due to inflammation & aggravation of joints/connective tissue produced by excessive ROM & hanging out on tendons & ligaments. Just like any movement pattern we want an optimal & natural range of motion not excessive or maximal ROM. Even if the individual is capable of performing pistol squats without apparent aberrations, it still can have a detrimental effect. That's because it promotes excessive mobility & extreme ROM which for most sports is not ideal as it negatively alters the natural length tension relationship of our muscles. Yes periodically checking/ testing them as a cool feat of strength & ok for some folks however consistently programming them is rarely if ever more beneficial than performing 90 deg single leg squats. With that said, the single leg squat is a highly functional task demonstrating foundational biomechanical qualities that can be witnessed in a variety of sports. However you'll rarely see the pistol squat position as it serves no functional purpose. In fact, moving on the playing field with extreme ROM not only reduces force & torque-producing capabilities but it creates exponentially greater risk of injury due to structurally & biomechanically disadvantageous positions. Movement transfers. How we move in the weight room seeps into our body mechanics on the playing field. If we ingrain faulty mechanics during training this negatively transfers to the playing field. With that said, the single leg ball squat is a phenomenal sub for the pistol squat. You’ll get more benefits without the potential ramifications associated with extreme ROM.
