The devils goal is to cause chaos and division. God calls his people to live in peace, to love God and love people. It’s that simple. To show love requires listening, understanding, and at times, a check from a fellow believer in Christ. Let’s call a spade a spade ♠️ racism is a sin. This problem will never go away by meeting demands of affected groups. We must pray for the heart. Pray for the hurt and resolution, but ultimately, pray for revival of Gods salvation to all people of every race. I don’t believe God asks us to be colorblind, diversity is a part of His intentionally beautiful design. ❤️ #diversity #notcolorblind #iseeyou #stopracism #achristianprospective #faithmatters #whatchristsays #lovematters #kierstynreneeblog

I grew up in India, Nepal, Sudan, Switzerland and the US where I was immersed in very diverse worlds. Like my parents, my friends were of different races and cultures. Although I was aware that our skins were many shades, I attached no importance to it. And I took it for granted that everyone was the same. But at 18 reality struck. ⠀ ⠀ I moved to the US, where I felt catapulted into an uncomfortably binary world that expected me to define myself in rigid and limited terms. As I made friends and read and observed, I started to realize I had been living in a cocoon. I started to understand, that when people in Delhi called my Rwandan and Ugandan boyfriend “monkey and buffalo”, there was a much deeper and larger problem behind their words. ⠀ ⠀ In my personal relations today, I still attach no preference to color but I do attach meaning to it. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve learnt that cherishing my identity and human diversity is not antonymous to acknowledging that race matters. ⠀ ⠀ ‘Ahlam means “I dream” in Arabic. These three artworks are my interpretation of what it takes to be antiracist.⠀ ⠀ ‘Ahlam 2019 Inkjet print 45 x 45 cm – 18 x 18 in each⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #dreamingofabetterworld #antiracism #antiracist #internalizedracism #colorconscious #racematters #notcolorblind #fairouzeltom #fairouzeltomart ⠀

It’s okay that he saw my color. It’s okay that he noticed it was different from his. I remember the other teacher almost held her breath, like as if he said something that was taboo. But he wasn’t being offensive, he was stating the obvious. Her reaction surprised me more than his question. What would have mattered was if that child treated his classmates or teachers differently due to skin colour. His interactions with his teachers and friends was not based on their skin colour being different from his. One day I will talk to Xander about racism. I’m going to have to explain the ugliness of it all, when as an adult I’m still trying to understand it myself. So I will need to learn how to have that conversation with him (beyond simply reading books about it ), and in an age appropriate way. However, I will not teach him to not see color, or see the differences. His questions and comments will not be taboo. It will be opportunity for me to reflect on the best way to address them. I will teach him to be kind and respectful towards people of all different colors, races, religions, abilities - what have you. We have a diverse friend circle. He is a part of a family that is diverse too, and we come in every shade of brown! (Starting with his mom and dad ) We will be the example of what it looks like to interact and celebrate those differences. Yes the talk will (unfortunately ) come, but it’s our actions and reactions that he will remember and learn from. We might make mistakes but we will all learn from them. Oh and one more thing - he will grow up loving his brown skin! He will be comfortable and confident in his background, culture, race - whatever religion he chooses, etc. You all get what I’m saying... basically he will be taught that his uniqueness is deserving of fair and equal treatment, just like the next person. #antiracism #racism #colorblind #notcolorblind #love #kindness #compassion #equality #fairness #justice #peace #shadeism #colorism #nojudgement

MMC Motherhood Chats Part ✌🏼tomorrow night @ 8:30p! After our first chat about racial equality we realized we wanted to continue the conversation and continue to be leaders for change. . This is a private virtual event for MMC Moms and a safe space to have a productive conversation from the motherhood lense. One of the biggest questions is...how do we raise our kids to know we are all equal and show them the beauty of diversity? #mmcmotherhoodchats #racialequality #raisingkids #motherhood #diversity #mommiesmoveandconnect #startsathome #parenting #notcolorblind

Color Blind < Culturally Well-rounded Color Blind is outdated, ineffective, limits, and excludes you and your child's ability to identify, learn and embrace cultures beyond their own. "Culturally Well-rounded" came to me this morning. This is how we should raise our kids and ourselves. Learning about and embracing other cultures doesn't mean you're neglecting your own. And I say culture because race is limiting. There are so many different cultures within a color race. Plus majority if not all of us by now are mixed with different races, ethnicities and cultures. How do you teach your child to be culturally well-rounded? The same way you teach yourself. What you learn, what you embrace, becomes a part of who you are. This is passed down to your kids. Nature and nurture. Kids learn more from what they see than what you say. You have to be a living example of the new normal you want for them. Want to raise a better generation? Start with yourself, in your home. Work towards becoming a more aware and well-rounded person. Mix up the movies, the music, the books. Add in some new languages, learn some new words from a different country or culture. Try some new food! Learn a new dance! Diversify your relationships (friendships, acquaintances, work buddies, school and at church ). It's time we elevate our "taste buds" and celebrate what we and our fellow humans bring to the world. We have so much to offer individually. Don't be stingy, or afraid to share your culture with others and the rest of the world. And don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to receive what the other cultures have to offer as well. #thatsall #culturallywellrounded #notcolorblind #morningthoughts #Godsdream #desmondtutu #kidsbooks #childrensbooks #culturallydiverse #embraceculture #natureandnurture #raisingkings #raisingqueens #raisingchildren #momoflittles #raisingyourself #culture #fortheculture #meltingpot #theworld

💥 Happy Fourth! 💥 I’m a day early, but I’ll be on a mini-trip to visit with family. I made some Filipino chicken empanadas with @krisatilla ! So fun to continue to pass down family traditions; even to friends. I love when my friends are interested in my heritage and cultural traditions. Made these beauties to bring up to my husband’s white family. They love them, and hope they enjoy this batch. . . . #culturaltraditions #familytradition #filipinofood #notcolorblind #peopleofcolor #peopleofcolormatter

Hello, . Today I want to share with you this book. . Title of the book: All are welcome Author(s ): Alexandra Penfold Illustrated by: Suzanne Kaufman . The book is about:  . Diversity, inclusivity and kindmess, it's written as a series of scenes happening in a school where families of all kinds connect and share. It’s about how living in a diverse and inclusive society can enrich our life and help us appreciate the value of each other, because we are different.  . I bought it from: Amazon.ca Languages: English I translate it to spanish, and I find that it allows me to have more conversations about the topic of the book with my kids. If you are a bilingual family, do you translate books for your kids? Do you find it easier to communicate and express that way? I'd love to know! . Conversation triggers : When we read this book, we had great conversations about the different places people come from and the different things they do. The different types of families they have, the different ways they dress, the different countries they come from, the different languages they speak, the different foods they eat, the different music they make and the different things that make their day.  . It really comes across that there is a great value in being different, and I think that my daughter was able to appreciate it. I really liked this message too. It has actually encouraged me to be more curious about the things that make me/us different from our friends. Very cool! . You can listen to this book here: Youtube: @Brightly Storytime Video title: All Are Welcome - Read Aloud Picture Book Brightly Storytime . I will continue to share other books about diversity and race and others here and there. Stay tuned for the next one.  . OK, time for a lecture about one of my longtime pet peeves that has just been wearing me the fuck out lately, considering recent events. If you’re one of those people who always says “I don’t see color”.... just fucking stop it. Please. And yes, privileged white folks... I’m talking mostly to YOU. People who “don’t see color” are also probably not seeing the racism. They’re not fully seeing the people of color who are being targeted, discriminated against, abused, and murdered. People who are treated this way don’t have the luxury of being “colorblind”. They are FORCED to be hyper-aware of their difference in color, all the time. And these “colorblind” folks also probably don’t see all of the beauty and value in all the other colors of people in the world. I DO see color. All around me. And it’s amazing. I appreciate those colors. I love those colors. I need those colors. All of them. Those colors make our world more interesting, more creative, more intelligent, more diverse, more cultured, more exciting, and just MORE. More than any single “color” of people could ever be on their own. Don’t be colorblind. People SHOULD see color. People NEED to see color. So that they can appreciate the enormous amount of beauty in it. So they can recognize that there is strength and power and inspiration and advantage in diversity. And also so they can recognize and condemn the evils of ignorance, discrimination, and racism. Learn to see color. Learn to appreciate those colors. Learn to call out the people who don’t. 🤷🏻‍♂️ /rant ••••••••••••••••••••••• #blacklivesmatter #diversity #colors #notcolorblind #blm #appreciateourdifferences #culture #race #thehumanrace

👑 Repost from @kristolynlloyd • When I was seventeen our youth group at my all white church was doing something called “Freedom Weekend”. During this two day staycation there was a panel on dating or courtship or whatever purity movement they had jumped on. During the panel I pushed the topic of interracial dating. One of my white male youth pastors (who couldn’t have been more than twenty six at the time ) eventually shared a story about how when he was nine a black girl from across the street kissed him. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ “She took my first kiss from me. I was saving that for my wife.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ He proceeded to make the point that he did not find black women attractive and it was because of that reason. He said this in front of group of twenty five to thirty kids...only two were black...both of us girls. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I remember feeling embarrassed, ugly, and ashamed in front of all my white peers. I was paralyzed. This was my spiritual leader at the time and he was perpetuating the narrative that black women are oversexed, unattractive, and unworthy of white love. Black women are less desirable. That was the message I was constantly fed. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I talk about deconstructing the Euro Christian narrative that I was conditioned and indoctrinated with. Taking stories like that and discerning the lie from the truth. My youth pastors’ racism against the love of God. ⁣Black women are Magic ✨ 🗣Do you hear me little black girl in the all white community?!?! ⁣⁣⁣ You. ⁣⁣⁣ Are. ⁣⁣⁣ Absolute. ⁣⁣⁣ Divine. ⁣⁣⁣ God Curated Holy Magic. ⁣⁣⁣ Let that kink grow out it’s not too much. ⁣⁣⁣ Oil that skin it’s not too dark . ⁣⁣⁣ Listen to Black music it’s not unholy. ⁣⁣⁣ Shout Black Lives Matter it’s one of God’s commandments to love your neighbor as you love yourself and fight for the least among us. ⁣⁣⁣ Find the Black girls or groups in your area and get connected. Let the love of Black People wash over you! There’s a reason there’s so many of us when we shouldn’t have survived. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 💫Black Girl Magic ✨🖤💁🏾‍♀️👸🏾 #theevegene #GodsChosenPeople #TheOriginalJews #Eve #Genesis #Israel #EveWasBlack #NotColorBlind #ColorConscious

This does not include the murder of Chantel Moore and the murder of Rodney Levi in New Brunswick in the last 10 days.⁣ ⁣ Canada we have a problem. The RCMP was created to control the Indigenous population. One of their roles was to take children from their parents and Indigenous communities and take them to residential schools. ⁣ ⁣ Two weeks ago the RCMP Commissioner, Brenda Lucki, admitted that she didn't understand the term "systematic racism" and nor did she think it was an issue in the RCMP. This has since been retracted, however, the very denial of this and a list of murdered names that are longer than this meme is not acceptable. ⁣ ⁣ Click on this photo in my smartbio for a petition and specific letters for different Mayors across Canada to support defunding the police. Repost via @heybelovedmama ⁣ ⁣ ⁣George, we heard your cry for Mama! We wept as we listened, and we realized that Mama was also justice, air, and love. Black mamas understood and white mamas stood and declared I AM MAMA! We are all running to answer you. ⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⁣ I AM MAMA - I am bold. I am bold enough to challenge and confront any and all racism and fear with in my own heart. I recognize that this is the most important work I can do.⠀⠀⁣ ⁣ I AM MAMA - I speak. I fearlessly speak, challenge, and confront all acts of racism in my home, my place of worship, my work, in my grocery store, and any place where I am present. My voice cannot be silenced because of fear or thoughts of inadequacy. ⠀⠀⁣ ⁣ I AM MAMA - I protect. I fight to protect those who are in danger. ⠀⠀⁣ ⁣ I AM MAMA - l comfort. I seek to comfort the pain and the lamenting of others. Because I am a mama I instinctively know when my shoulder is needed to cry on, and when my arms are needed to hug. ⠀⠀⁣ ⁣ I AM MAMA - I listen. I listen to opinions that are uncomfortable and unlike mine for the sake of my children. ⠀⠀⁣ ⁣ I AM MAMA - I see. I see the differences in others. I am not color blind, however, I am color aware. I chuckled when I saw this one. People had a lot to say before the country's "awakening," so confident they'd be on the right side of justice. Speaking up on social media isn't the same as speaking up when you see racist acts happening IRL. If you have never heard of Juneteenth before here's why the date of June 19th is so important: ⁣ ⁣ As the American Civil War came to a close in 1865, a number of people remained enslaved, especially in remote areas. Word of slavery’s end traveled slowly, especially for those who were largely isolated from Union armies. This was especially the case in Texas, where thousands of slaves were not made aware of freedom until June 19, 1865, when Union Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and issued an order officially freeing them. ⁣ ⁣ Their celebration would serve as the basis of Juneteenth — a holiday celebrating emancipation in the US. This day is important to step back and recognize the history of slavery. ⁣ ⁣ Read more - click on this picture in my smartbio to learn more about Juneteenth's importance. ⁣ ⁣ #notcolorblind #checkyourprivilege #listenandlearn #blm #BlackLivesMatter #solidarity #blackmenmatter #blackwomenmatter #nojusticenopeace #antiracism #blackgirlmagic #blackhistory #blacklovematters #lovewins #keepfighting #checkyourprivilege #truth #openyoureyes #antiracist #blackmothersmatter

I am not colorblind. I am also not a fan of requesting POC to educate me though so I won’t be asking how to do better. I’ll be doing my own education. We, white people, need to educate ourselves and not require emotional labor from POC. #blacklivesmatter #notcolorblind

“ I don’t see color” WRONG ✖️ The idea of not seeing skin-color is nice in theory, but in actuality the sentiment you’re trying to convey is getting lost in translations. SEE the world in color rather than living in a colorblind society. Embrace diversity ✨ People of color represent beloved backgrounds, storied cultures, and varied experiences. We're meant to see the world in color and appreciate all of the beauty it shows us 🌈

#blacklivesmatter period. Some people think by saying “I don’t see color” means they’re not prejudiced. Not so. The goal is not to be color blind. I know, I considered myself “color blind” until my daughter Ruby came along. She’s seen color since she was 6 months old. Even as an infant in my arms, she’d sometimes crane her neck when a melanated woman passed by. When she was 3 she declared, “I don’t belong with you. I’m not even on the same team,” because she identified color. To say you don’t see color is dismissive. It discounts unique differences and racial experiences. To quote an op-Ed in The Princetonian,”The ideology of colorblindness is used to distance oneself from the racial inequality all around us. colorblindness is very dangerous because it means we’re ignoring the problem. we cannot afford to be color blind. We have to be color brave.” What is color braveness? The author of the op ed, Julia Chaffers, writes, it means, having the conviction to identify racial injustice and then having a plan to address it. It’s easy to say “I don’t see color.” It’s harder to accept responsibility to work for a more equitable and just society. So please stop saying it. I know I have. 💜🙏🏾🦋 #blacklivesmatter #colorbrave #notcolorblind #checkyourprivilege #listenandlearn #blm #transracialadoption #empathy #love

They showed up and showed out. On Sunday afternoon, NBC, Dan Fogelman and TIU writer Kay Oyegun facilitated a private screening and panel of tonight's episode with Afr. Amer. media and influencers, to take a closer look at R&Bs relationship. We were joined by my TV mama and had an opportunity to discuss black representation in television and marriage. What an amazing way to celebrate our culture and legacy. Together we watched the highs and lows together of episode 317 like we are at the magic johnson AMC.😜😂😊. Thank you to all who came out for your endless support. We feel it. And I'm proud to be a part of a show where representation truly matters. This is (all of ) us. #myblackisbeautiful #ThisIsUs #lovemycast #notcolorblind #colorcouregous
