Things im beginning to appreciate more in my 30's⠀ 🌼 my knees that were perpetually grazed because of climbing and adventures by the sea when I was younger⠀ 🌼 being able to ask for help without feeling ashamed. ⠀ 🌼 my body changing the way it looks and feels ⠀ 🌼 strong shoulders that I have grown to love because they remind me of all the hours I spent training+ swimming. ⠀ 🌼the bunions on my feet ⠀ 🌼working out/ moving with intention because of how my body FEELS ⠀ 🌼my teeth that were discoloured from a medicine I had to have when I was younger⠀ 🌼my sensitivity because I've learnt to not look at it as a weakness ⠀ 🌼 The lines on my face ⠀ 🌼my body going through changes week after week, month after month⠀ 🌼 becoming a wee bit more comfortable saying no⠀ 🌼 my resilience and the ability to pick up the pieces and start all over again⠀ 🌼 Regular timeouts from these apps to rest and refuel⠀ 🌼 Being able to eat more intuitively and enjoy my food more 🌼The realisation that healing is a process and somedays, it doesn’t look like much but you are still growing even when it feels, especially when it feels like you aren’t⠀ ⠀ This photo was taken several years ago but I can't help but marvel at how much has changed since ⠀ ⠀ What have you learnt to love + appreciate lately? But before I get into that … A year and a day ago, I finally had the courage to venture into the social media platform and share my passion for nutrition, wellness, and encouraging others. I had always wondered whether it’d be a good idea, but I never actually took the steps to make it happen. There are quite a few people out there who are either allergic to or they break out when they consume 🥜 . The tahini gives it a nice nutty and slightly smoky flavor. And it also makes for a good protein substitute from the usual peanut butter. I also used chocolate protein powder with some powdered sugar to give these little squares it’s sweet coating. I will admit, I was reluctant to share these Muddy Buddies. 🤤 They are quite filling! If a 130 lb woman can deadlift 215 lbs after not heavy lifting for 10 months, I promise you can wear a mask to the grocery without complaining 😉 I was breathing heavy in this training session but I kept my mask on the entire time (not required at my gym while training, only while working ) to prove a point. It is more than possible to move your body, strengthen your heart, build muscle, boost your mood, lose weight, and GAIN CONFIDENCE amidst the current pandemic. It isn’t ideal to train with a mask on. It isn’t fun. But it’s possible. And as @faithfocusfinish says, “GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE.” To change your life, you must change your mindset. And that’s incredibly uncomfortable. But you can do it, friend. It’s more than possible! Do you want to change your life? Then I have a challenge for you this morning ... start saying “I get to ______.” instead of “I have to ______.” You get to wake up today. You don’t have to. You get to go to work today. You don’t have to. You get to move your body today. You don’t have to. You get to fuel your body today. You don’t have to. You get to wear a mask today. You don’t have to. You get to protect the elderly and the sick today. You don’t have to. You get to show kindness today. You don’t have to. You get to view your pain as something that makes you stronger. If you want to get better at something you have to practice & be consistent with whatever it is you want to get better at. Trying something once, feeling it’s too hard & then giving up will not make you better at it the next time you try... Push-ups are my nemesis & I HATE them but I want to like them & try to increase my strength. I first started in October with 25 push-ups every day & here I am today doing up push-ups. They are still hard, still a struggle but I keep practising, showing up doing my best on the day because that’s all you can ask. So if you want to challenge yourself try this: Decide what you want to do Tag it before or after a habit that you already have in place (mine is before bedtime ) Pick a number or a time which you know is achievable every day (don’t make it as hard as I did with a big number ) And then just start! Feeling really PROUD of myself lately 👏🏼 . Pre-3 week nutritional program I was burning through candle at both ends & then setting it on fire. . I had ZERO time to do anything, see anyone or have a minute to breathe. . During the reset, it’s encouraged to really be introspective & take time to re-evaluate your life, relationships, needs & desires. . That meant, for me, I really wanted to make time to do the things I enjoy & actually pursue the things on my vision board I’m too afraid to admit. . One of those things was getting to a weekly yoga class. So even though Monday’s are my busiest day, I have adjusted my work schedule & have taken time to put my needs first. . I never expected a 3 week nutritional program to do so much for my mental health but all I can say is I wish I would have done it SOONER. . There’s truly a new energy about me & I am here for every moment of it 👏🏼👏🏼 . Stop putting yourself & needs on the back burner. I will never be 100% when it comes to nutrition 🙅🏼♀️ I love food and drinks too much #YOLO Buuuut I do know how it feels when you take care of your body. 💃 So I am going to drink the wine or take the shots 🤪 but I’ll get up and get to my workout the next day. I am going to enjoy the heck out of too much cheese and bread or dessert but make sure most (ok 75% ) of the time I am eating more veggies and drinking water like it’s going out of style. 😎 And that’s ok with me because that’s life. If you are punishing yourself it’s not worth it. TRUST ME if you can enjoy the process the results are going to be that much better! During this pandemic , I struggled big time to find balance in my daily resolution and most days ended up with a do nothing approach . I thought that I could focus more on my goal since I am home all the time but finding it so hard to toggle my roles at home. For those of us that struggle with sticking with our goals during this pandemic & trying to commit to being 100% perfect, I am sure you would agree that this mindset can be quite a unique challenge. However , I have come to acknowledged the facts though, we can take control of the doubts and find a solution. I TOOK MY SHIRT OFF.😮⠀ ⠀ This weekend, during a jog, I was DYING. It’s definitely summer in LA and, at 91 degrees, wearing a black shirt wasn’t the most comfortable attire.⠀ ⠀ At a stoplight, I saw a girl wearing a sports bra a shorts. At first, I thought to myself, ‘Dang- I wish I had the body to pull off that look right now. Then I wouldn’t be so hot!’⠀ ⠀ Then- a thought cafe to me, ‘Just take off your dang shirt, Kaylie!’⠀ ⠀ Rather than suffer potential heat stroke, I let my belly BREATHE for the remainder of the jog.⠀ ⠀ And, along with feeling TEN DEGREES cooler, I felt STRONG. ⠀ ⠀ Now, what do I have to say to all those years of being AFRAID to train in a sports bra because I ‘don’t have a six pack’?⠀ ⠀ F-OFF. It’s a million degrees outside and, if guys can train without a shirt on, I can too!💪🏻
When Baker looks back on our time together, I want her to remember a mom who played with her, laughed with her, carried her, hugged and comforted her... and got in the damn water with her! 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒔, 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 . I’ve seen a lot of posts recently talking about #wearthedamnshorts and I thought I’d spill my two cents . So, for a reference I took a picture in the same pose, just different lighting. Literally the only difference is the way the light is hitting my legs...THAT’S IT . 🗣LADIES- cellulite is normal! And those jerks telling us otherwise can step on back! I am a very healthy woman with a healthy body fat percentage, I can deadlift nearly twice my body weight, and I still have cellulite. WHO CARES 🤷🏻♀️ . We have to stop ✋ allowing society to dictate how we feel about our bodies and the clothes we choose to wear. It’s our turn to re-write the narrative. To show young girls that being healthy is the only thing you should strive for-not another girls body type, or a thigh gap, or cellulite free legs . So next time you see a little dent in your leg, just remember it doesn’t define you, and WEAR THE DAMN SHORTS PROUDLY 🙏🏼

Even now I hide from most of the world but I’ve never had to with Wade. I’ve been real. I’ve been messy. I’ve been beautifully kind and i’ve been stupidly complicated. I never knew that a love like this was even possible but i’m FOREVER grateful we discovered it💛 I know it’s annoying for me to gush about how much i love this guy but the point of this is: there is always someone out there thats going to love each and every part of you, so please do not ever settle for less.
Posed vs unposed...How many times have you scrolled through Instagram & thought “I wish I looked like that” you need to know that what you see is the best angle, the best lighting, literally the best side of that person. We are all guilty of it. I can guarantee that nobody walks around looking perfectly flexed every minute of the day. Up until recently, I used to think this was a negative quality, but I’ve come to realize that my sensitive nature is a GIFT 🎁 . 🧚♀️Now, let’s talk about how being an Empath affects our Fitness & Health🧚♀️ . One of the main characteristics of an Empath is the following: . 💛We absorb everyone’s energy around us, and we feel emotions as though they are our own struggles. This could drain us. . By accepting that as part of our identity, we can learn to navigate the intense emotions to lower our stress levels and still do it with an open heart. Navigating does not mean suppressing. It means feeling, but finding ways to ground ourselves and achieve our goals. . 1️⃣We need to release that energy that is not ours. The accumulation of stress without release can cause multiple health issues like digestive problems and even lower abdomen problems. So incorporating physical activity is a must! . 2️⃣You might not feel like working out because you’re simply drained, even if you had coffee or 8hrs of quality sleep. Push through it. I promise you’ll feel more awake and energized after! . 3️⃣Spend time in nature! Nature makes us feel so much better. I go to the park everyday on my daily walk. . 4️⃣Set limits. This is a hard one. But make sure you have time for yourself to recharge and take care of yourself.
