Sometimes, things don't go according to plan. Sometimes a lapse in judgment happens. For me, it happened last night. I woke up today feeling disgusted and angry at myself for what I did and how I let food get to me. It had been months since I did this, to the extent that I did. The last time this happened, I put out a video on April 21st, talking about how I binged for 4 nights in a row and that I was putting a stop to it. I did put a stop to it. Thats what I'm doing here, before it gets out of hand. If you mess up for a day, its not the end of the world, but you need to be accountable for your actions, before it gets out of control. I'm being accountable for mine. Make up for it tomorrow. In this season where so much is “up in the air” and so little can be planned well in advance, I’m feeling *very* challenged. I’m sad. I’m mad. I’m disappointed. Then I swing the other way. I’m grateful. I’m relaxed. I’m present. These swings have me seeking grounding and centering, and I need to clear my head! :: Amidst so much uncertainty, my answer is to ground myself in nature 🏕 and family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. :: I’m going to the place where I feel most alive: the ocean. The first picture was taken in January and I felt tired, run down and miserable. I kept a smile on my face so other would not know how unhappy I was. The second picture was taken today and that smile is from my soul. I am happier than I thought I could be given the pain our family suffered last year. I wanted to get healthy because I need to be a better example for the boys. I am not even close to my goal yet but I am one day closer than I was yesterday. #justkeepmoving #happiernow

Things are a bit strange right now without a normal racing schedule and I've heard from a lot of athletes indicating they're feeling a little lost in their training right now. Hey, listen, races are great and this is for sure a devastating hit for race directors and athletes but training and exercising should never have been just about racing anyway, right? Here's a suggested re-frame for you with some suggestions on how to capitalize on this season of non-racing. 👉Running is cancelled, cycling isn't cancelled, many other forms of exercise aren't cancelled - build your training the same as you normally would this time of year. If you feel you need a race focus, select a race distance and set a date for your own personal time-trial about every 6 weeks and cycle your training up to hit a great time trial, then cycle back down for about a week. Keep a pattern. 👉Since you don't have the mental pressure and stress of racing, enjoy this time to mentally recharge and renew your motivation while still being the same fit athlete you always are. 👉Remember that as an athlete, health and fitness are the highest priority so let that motivate you in place of a race. Stay focused on that goal. 👉Here are some great things to throw in during this time: work on skills, form, strength and conditioning; try new forms of cross-training; take inventory of your strengths and weaknesses and have fun working specifically on those weaknesses. 👉Have a training plan anyway. Just like everyone else, I've been disappointed that my race plans went down the toilet this year but to be honest, that didn't change any of my training. We'll get through this strange time but what we can't do is let this strange time be an excuse to stop. Don't quit. Day 51 of #75hard and I'm feeling strong! More importantly I am feeling confident in my own skin! Losing weight, feeding the mind and changing my mindset! I went for a power walk around town this morning with the hubby in this outfit! He has been my biggest supporter thru this journey and one of the hardest workers I know! Progress is often slow, inconsistent, surprising, messy and full of twist and turns. The most common phrases I have been hearing when I train or teach classes are “I am so out of shape” or “I am not as strong as I used to be” and I can see the worry in their eyes. However, these same people have been consistently coming to class (more times than before quarantine ), working out (more than before quarantine ), putting in the hard work at home as well, and have come back even stronger than before! We can all get there, just stop letting yourself get in the way. Once you do, anything is possible! Change the mindset, change the outcome! 🌍 🔥💪🏼
