Do you ever feel hungry soon after what looks like a huge meal? Fullness is determined by two overlapping states. The moment we put our fork down after a meal, “no more”, is the point we reach SATIATION. Satiation determines the size of a single meal, while SATIETY affects the frequency of eating and the hunger/fullness sensations between meals. When considering how much a meal will fill us up, both of these states matter. Here’s why. Satiation after a meal is heavily affected by the physical properties of our food. Chewing solid food increases satiation, as does a very voluminous meal - which physically fills up our stomach. The research also shows that increasing the volume of a meal by increasing its water content - serving a dish in the form of soup or stew with some chunks - increases both satiation and satiety compared to eating the exact same meal with a glass of water. Satiety between meals suppresses hunger and promotes fullness through sensory, neuronal and hormonal influences. It’s determined not just by the feeling of a full stomach, but by the release of satiety hormones triggered by the energy density and macronutrient composition of our meal. In practice, what does this mean?

Although we might think that it is enough to eat “big” to stay full, think, a salad, a fruit bowl, a soup, a balanced split between nutrients and an adequate energy content are crucial elements to ensure that we stay full between meals, past that volume-driven state of initial satiation. Similarly, the volume, essentially made up of fruit and vegetables - fibre and water, can help regulate the energy density of a meal. Filling up on cheese is a great deal harder than filling up on a mixture of cheese and vegetables. This strategy works both ways. For those who need more energy, cutting back on volume can be helpful. Grains are a good example: some expand up to four-fold (polenta, cous cous, spelt ) while cooking, and others minimally increase in volume (pasta, basmati rice ). Choosing the right foods for us allows us to vary smoothly and flexibly to accomodate our hunger levels - and can teach us a great deal about our own bodies and our bellies.

Have a wonderful evening 🙋🏼‍♀️ big hugs, Marie 💫 ____ 🍌🍞 For the banana bread 🍞🍌 Preheat the oven to 180℃/350℉. Combine 70 g melted coconut oil, 150 g maple syrup along with 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar. Mash 2 bananas and add as well. Set aside. Take a large bowl and add 200g spelt flour, 1 tsp vanilla powder, 1 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp baking powder. Mix with a spoon and fold in the banana mixture. Be careful not to overmix. Pour into a square, greased pan and bake for about 40 minutes. My love. My everything. Ok, trying not to be too dramatic but don’t know what my life would be without oats. I used to think they were 🤢 growing up, but my grandparents slowly leaned me to love them. 🥧TARTE RHUBARBE POMMES 🍎 . . Hier une tarte salée et aujourd'hui une tarte sucrée ! Mais c'est vrai que les tartes sont toujours pratiques, on peut choisir n'importe quelle garniture, s'amuser avec la pâte ... On peut tout faire ! . Et la première chose que j'ai eu envie de faire en trouvant de la rhubarbe c'est clairement une tarte !! . . J'ai choisi d'essayer une nouvelle pâte brisée du livre "Les secrets de la pâtisserie bio" Édition @scopterrevivante . . Recette : ◽Pâte : 250g de farine d'épeautre, 1 pincée de sel, 6cas d'huile d'olive, 4cas d'eau de fleur d'oranger, 4cas d'eau, 6cas de cassonade Mélangez tous les ingrédients un par un jusqu'à obtenir un mélange homogène puis laissez reposer 30min au frais. Pendant ce temps préparez la garniture. ◽Garniture : compote de pommes sans sucre ajouté, branches de rhubarbe, confiture de fraises Épluchez et découpez la rhubarbe. Étalez la pâte et recouvrez la de compote, puis des morceaux de rhubarbe. Enfournez a 200°C pour environ 30min. A la sortie du four étalez un peu de confiture de fraises sur la tarte et dégustez ! . . Et toi, tu es fan de rhubarbe aussi ?? . . GREEK YOGURT FRUIT TART - -Follow My page For More Recipes and Tips🙏🏼❤️ - Credits👉 @lossweight6 ❤️ - Follow @lossweight6 💗 Follow @lossweight6 💗 Follow @lossweight6 💗 - - Ingredients 15 Medjool dates, soaked in warm water for 10 minutes* 1 and 1/2 cups raw unsalted cashews* 1 cup Greek yogurt (I use vanilla, but any flavor works ) assorted sliced fresh fruit - Instructions Spray the bottom of a 9-inch tart or cake pan or a pie dish with nonstick spray and line the pan with parchment paper on top. Set aside. (The spray helps the parchment stick to the pan, making spreading the crust easier. The parchment prevents the crust from sticking to the pan. If you don’t mind the taste of nonstick spray on the crust, you don’t have to use parchment. Just spray the pan with the nonstick spray and add the crust. ) Make sure your dates are soft by soaking in warm water for 10 minutes. Make sure you drain them and chop in half before using. Pulse the dates and cashews together until thick “dough” is formed and the cashews are all broken up, as pictured above. The dough will be moist from the oil in the nuts. Press evenly into prepared tart pan and partly up the sides. Spread the yogurt on top of the crust. Decorate with fresh fruit. Slice, serve, enjoy. -Notes Make Ahead Instructions: The crust can be made 1-2 days in advance. Cover tightly and keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Continue with step 4. Store leftovers in the refrigerator. Dates: Instead of dates, try 1 and 1/2 cups raisins or dried cranberries. Nuts: Instead of cashews, try walnuts. A smooth, softer nut is best. I don’t recommend almonds.
