To be fair lockdown hasn’t been to bad! I thought no gym would have made a massive difference for the worst but we’ve plodded on with cardio and resistance 💪🏼 can’t wait get them free weights back in my hands though and get a proper pump on those legs.. I might not be ripped to shreds but from a "obese bmi" dress size 16/18 to a "healthy bmi" dress size 8 I’m pretty proud! FORM > anything else. Y’all, look. Lifting heavy weights is cool. It really is. But what isn’t cool is ego-lifting. Just because you can actually pick it up off the floor doesn’t mean you’re doing it right. I recently came across a post of an influencer doing this same movement but with over 120lbs. That’s great and all but their form was awful. Y’all. At no point does lifting the heaviest weight trump lifting lighter weight with proper form. I can give you several reasons why... Risk of injury increases. You’re not working the muscles you intended on working, thus The exercise is inefficient. As your trainer, it’s my JOB to teach you how to execute every exercise safely and correctly. As a person who runs an account that’s 95% fitness, it’s my job to be 100% sure what I’m SHOWING you and what I’m TELLING you is correct. I'm gonna tell you a secret 🤫⠀ ⠀ I'm not ready to start cutting yet⠀ ⠀ I'm scared⠀ ⠀ Right now, I'm on my 17th week of growing, and I'm finally seeing some gains I like ⠀ ⠀ 🍑 The booty finally grew a lil⠀ 💪🏻 My shoulder press is triple the weight it was when I began⠀ 🧠 Mindset around food and weight gain fleekin'⠀ 💋 I'm the heaviest I've been in years, and most days I feel good⠀ ⠀ A few months, weeks ago, the thought of cutting down, losing this fluff was so enticing. And when it wasn't just enticing, it was NECESSARY. My mindset was in the wrong place. I was TOO BIG. I was TOO FAT. I had gained TOO MUCH. I was UGLY. I was a FAILURE. I needed to cut RIGHT NOW. Luckily, I had a coach to guide me, and she said, "Nah"⠀ ⠀ NAH⠀ ⠀ So I sucked it up, and worked on booty pumps and brain gains. And whaddya know? The booty grew, and so did my mind ⠀ ⠀ I gained 15lbs, and I'm cool with that. My thighs touch together, and I am fine with that. I don't weigh myself every day, and I don't think about it. I don't nail my macros to the exact number every single day, and it doesn't bother me ⠀ ⠀ For the first time in ... ever, I'm finally in a headspace that's healthy enough to diet down ⠀ ⠀ But I don't want to⠀ ⠀ I'm scared to⠀ ⠀ My inner critic tells me that there's nothing under this fluff. It says, "When you cut, yer gonna lose the booty, you're gonna lose it all, you're gonna be disappointed, it's all gonna go away and you're gonna be right where you began - slim and flat"⠀ ⠀ Body dysmorphia, negative self talk, fear - it comes in many forms. It takes many shapes. It comes at you from many angles. I thought when I conquered my fear of growing, my body image work was done - but the battle goes on.⠀ ⠀ So, right now at this moment, I'm not ready to cut. I don't have to be. EXERCISING ON VACATION 🌟⠀ ⠀ What’s your take on it? Do you like to workout on vacation or take time off and relax?⠀ ⠀ Either way is totally fine! If you want to take a few days off, you’re not going to lose any progress. People tend to be more active on vacation anyway, walking around sightseeing or doing activities in nature like hiking, swimming, etc. ⠀ ⠀ If you’re the kinda person that wants to wake up early and squeeze in a workout, that’s great too! TOP TIPS FOR TRAINING IN THE HEAT ☀️🥵 In the heat of the sun your CORE temperature increases, redirecting blood to the surface of your skin away from your muscles in order to help the heat dissipate. You are going to SWEAT a lot more (as sweating is a cooling mechanism ) and there are several benefits for training in the heat - but if your body has not yet adapted to this you need to help your body acclimatise. You will find it MUCH harder at the beginning but gradually it will get easier. TOP TIPS 1. Listen to your body - if you get light headed or feel nauseas stop exercising and find a cool environment as quickly as possible. If you have a heart rate monitor your heart rate might go higher & stay higher than usual as your body is responding to the training compared to on a cooler day but if you are uncomfortable ease off. 2. Have LOTS of water to stay hydrated. I also sometimes have a cold wet towel to help cool me down between exercises as well. You can even add an ice pack on top of the towel to keep it extra cool and will melt as the workout progresses. 3. Take baby steps to help your body adjust to and tolerate more exercise in the heat. Build up your time and intensity. 4. Replenish your body afterwards - you will have sweated A LOT, so it’s good to have some carbs to replenish your muscles and sodium (salt ) which helps speed up rehydration and replace the salts lost in sweating. A cheap homemade one I like is 50:50 fruit juice and water and a pinch of salt - which is pretty much isotonic and is really inexpensive compared to branded sports drinks. 5. Remember that on really hot days you may not go as fast or as hard as you normally do as it will be more challenging - and this is ok! Interesting fact: illness caused from heat is actually due to the heat produced by the muscles, not environmental heat itself - what the environmental heat does is prevent the body heat from dissipating and hence it leads to internal overheating. True heat exhaustion can be really quite dangerous so it is always better to be well prepared when exercising on an hot humid day when it’s not something you usually do. Hope these tips help!

WOULD YOU RATHER BE FIT AND HEALTHY OR SKINNY AND WEAK? . ❌Until last year, I was obsessed with losing weight and getting skinny. I was putting hours and hours into cardio, and being very careful of what I ate. Not a day would have passed by without me counting the calories. I was probably eating ~1200-1500 calories each day (somedays even less ) and thought I was doing the right thing. Little did I know, I was actually getting my body deprived of essential nutrients to even run basic physiological processes. . 👉🏻My metabolism dropped and I was feeling tired or sleepy most of the time. A lot of times, I wanted to eat more, but then I was afraid to eat too. Unfortunately, this not only affected my physical health but also mental health. I used to have mood swings, temper and feeling of loneliness. . ⭕️It took me around 6months of reverse dieting (increasing calories at slow pace ), lifting weights, eliminating my cardio - that I finally saw changes in my body. . ⭕️Today, I eat ~2200-2500calories/day which is almost double of what I used to eat before. I weigh 20POUNDS more, gained some muscle but, also fat along the way. No complains though. I am never hungry, stronger than before and honestly, feel amazing most of the time. . ✅If you are also someone struggling with weight loss and can relate to my story, do remember eating less is not the right answer. Women don't have to be skinny to look good, we can be strong and beautiful💪🏻❤️

FITNESS GOALS ✨ During lockdown I was exercising nearly everyday and into a really good exercise routine. When starting back at work properly I set goals to continue my fitness routine but found it so hard to maintain them. As a teacher, I work long days and get so tired. I found it so hard to wake up before work as I already wake up so early and so hard to exercise after work as I was exhausted. It was so hard to keep up with the goals I had set and was disappointed in myself as I worked so hard to be consistent. . I played around with a few different routines but can now say I am finally happy with my exercise routine. . I now start my exercise routine off on Sunday’s with an intense workout. I then take Monday’s and Tuesday’s as rest days. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea as I know a lot of people see Sunday as a day of rest but I have found this works so much better for me as Monday’s are just a no from me. ❌ I then wake up early on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s which is so much easier to maintain. During lockdown I was loving HIIT workouts but really struggled to complete intense workouts so early in the morning. So on Wednesday’s I complete a resistance training based workout and Thursday’s I do yoga or pilates. I am very fortunate to be able to work from home on Friday’s so I can wake up a little bit later (around 7am ) and complete a HIIT workout which I am so grateful for! Saturday’s= rest day! . When I say rest day, I don’t mean doing no physical activity in a day. I try and go for a walk every lunch time and love to complete @thebodycoach workouts at school with the kids! . I am now only working out 4 days a week and this is enough for me. It gives me so much more motivation and power in the workouts that I do. . When setting fitness goals, don’t be too hard on yourself or you will be setting yourself up to fail like I did. Start small and you can always work up to more. Another tip is to mix up your workouts and find what you enjoy! If you have maintainable goals you are more likely to stick to them and repetition breeds a habit!
