Glute activation. Tomorrow is my last day in Zaragoza and we are heading up to Galicia to meet there my in laws. I don’t know if we will get back to Zgz before going back to London or not... we just go with the flow! It’s been great to have Noah here, meeting all my family (finally! ) but it’s now time to meet my husband’s family as well. The initial plan was to have put in laws here too as they have a great relationship with my parents, but due to the pandemic it wasn’t possible so we have to split our time. Recovery Sundays - Pushing into week 3 of our 6 week return to training program - And we need to remember; Recovery is important! It’s the most overlooked part of training, a couple of simple principles to ensure good recovery to go again next week; - Sleep: aim for 6-8 hours a night - Hydration: about a litre of water for every 20-30kgs of body weight - Get moving: on rest days, go for a light walk or easy bike ride to keep your body moving! - Food: eat whole nutritious foods the majority of the time, enjoy the traditional “junk” foods and booze the minority of the time - We’re currently working on nutrition strategies to help ensure our members are consistently progressing - Using the same principles that get used for programming; periodisation - With the old saying “methods are many, principles are few. VOCHTRETENTIE EN STRESS “OMG, vanochtend was ik 1 kilo zwaarder! 😱 ” - Steek je hand op als jij dit ooit bent geweest. ☝️ - Wil je de reden weten waarom je kunt aankomen, ondanks dat je niets hebt verandert aan je calorie-inname of lichaamsbeweging? - Je hebt te hard getraind. Je hebt ruzie gehad met je partner. Je hebt 4 uur geslapen. Misschien ben je doodsbang voor spinnen en joeg een spin jou uit de douche. Wat het ook is dat jou veel stress oplevert. Ik weet dat ikzelf bijvoorbeeld gestrest raak wanneer ik mijn eiwitinname van de dag niet haal. Hoe dan ook gaat het erom dat je gestrest was, wat leidt tot een acuut hoog Cortisol gehalte. Het Cortisol gehalte maakt onderdeel uit van het ‘’Stress respons’’. - Cortisol heeft een lichte affiniteit voor de mineralocorticoïden receptoren in het lichaam, waaraan Aldosteron (een steroïde hormoon dat de waterhuishouding helpt reguleren ) doorgaans bindt. Aldosteron heeft een sterke affiniteit voor de receptor. Wanneer cortisol stijgt als gevolg van fysieke, mentale, emotionele stress of een combinatie hiervan, is de verhouding Aldosteron tot Cortisol uit balans. Hoewel Cortisol een zeer milde affiniteit heeft voor de receptor, leidt de overweldigende verhouding van Cortisol tot Aldosteron er simpelweg toe dat de receptor ‘overspoeld’ wordt met Cortisol, waardoor de nieren natrium in het lichaam vasthouden en dus ook water. Dus je blaast jezelf als het ware op als een ballon, in verhouding tot hoe gestrest je was. - Moraal van het verhaal, stress leidt tot vochtretentie. Raak niet in paniek, nu weet je waarom je uit het niets kunt aankomen. En nu je weet waardoor het komt, hoef je er niet om te stressen. 😉 ⁣

Über Geld wird nicht gesprochen 🙊 ————————————————— Meine Mutter sowie die meisten anderen Personen ihrer Generation sprechen nicht über Geld. Nicht darüber, was sie in ihrem Job verdienen, wie viel Miete sie zahlen, was ihr Urlaub kostet oder wie viel sie geerbt haben 🧳 Man kennt Tendenzen, so wie man tendenziell erkennt, dass eine Influencerin es echt geschafft hat, weil sie jeden Tag andere Klamotten trägt, eine 200m2 Wohnung hat und regelmäßig auf Bali chillt. Aber wie viel Geld hat sie? Wie viel gibt sie aus? Weiß man das von irgendwem? Warum eigentlich nicht? Wenn man den Menschen glaubt, gehört jede Person irgendwie zur Mittelschicht, außer vielleicht Jeff Bezos. Damit kann man sich natürlich auch gut aus jeder Verantwortung ziehen. Es würde allerdings sehr helfen, offen über Geld zu sprechen, weil ich dann zum Beispiel wüsste, wie ich in einem Vorstellungsgespräch verhandeln müsste, ich wüsste, ob ich meine Freundin lieber zum Kaffee einladen sollte, weil sie nur die Hälfte von mir verdient. Man könnte über Ungerechtigkeiten sprechen und sich gegenseitig helfen. Ich sehe wirklich keinen einzigen Grund, warum man dieses integrale Theme verheimlichen sollte, das für uns alle so wahnsinnig wichtig ist 💴 Was hat man davon zu verschweigen, ob man 200, 2000 oder 4000 netto hat? Warum ist Geld so schambehaftet? Vor allem, wer wenig Geld hat, kann dafür nun überhaupt nicht. По поводу результатов вчерашних соревнований @krupskkaya Результаты херовые, было очень обидно накосячить там, где мои подопечные обычно не косячат (тяга ). Присед 110 кг, жим 70 кг, тяга 0. Заявочный вес в тяге у нас был самый большой в потоке, в зале мы его уверенно тянули на 2 раза. На турнире мы тоже во всех трёх попытках его потянули, после первой попытки Катя сказала, что она его не чувствует. Но в первых двух попытках её пошатнуло в самой верхней точке и она не смогла зафиксироваться, а в третьей двойное движение. Выводы: лучше готовиться и не делать перерывы более года между выступлениями (хоть это и не совсем от нас зависело ). P.S. Even when I pull my pants up real high, I’ve still got some rolls. Had I seen myself like this 5 years ago, I don’t think I would’ve handled it well. However, I wouldn’t have looked like this 5 years ago because I put such pressure on myself to remain at a certain weight & level of skinniness, I wouldn’t have allowed myself to reach a point where I looked like this. Such restriction only affected me negatively. My body image was so prevalent in my mind, so often, that it made it hard to enjoy certain activities that went against maintaining that particular body shape. For me, focusing predominately on performance and strength has helped me immensely in reducing the pressure I put on myself to look a certain way and the degree to which my body image plays on my mind. This approach may not work for everyone, however, there are alternative approaches which can help you to move away from being so body image and food-focused, if they seem to be taking up a lot of your mental and emotional energy. I recently listened to the Iron Culture ( @ironculturepodcast ) podcast episode 78 - Diet vs Anti-Diet Culture ( @omarisuf , @helms3dmj , @vitaminphd ) as well as the Into The Red Zone ( @into .the.red.zone ) podcast episode 4 - Chronic Dieting ( @totalbodybenefit , @ellen .masson_ep ), both of which provide much more in-depth insights into this topic, allow for easily listening and are great places to start opening your mind to alternatives to dieting and why this may be important.

Meer vakantie dan dit gaat het niet worden dit jaar! En dat is ook logisch na al die investeringen van de afgelopen maanden. Mijn vakanties komen wel weer! Ondanks de vakantieperiode gaat het nog goed hier in @strongerstudio013 . Ik heb mezelf als doel gesteld om 5 a 6 PT’s te draaien per week. Dan haal ik de huur van de ruimte eruit en houd ik genoeg tijd over voor de online coaching van @makemestrongernl . Die kwaliteit wil ik namelijk koste wat het kost waarborgen. Het stellen van zo’n doel vond ik in eerste instantie eng om te doen... want wat als het niet lukt? Ben ik dan niet meteen teneergeslagen? Down? Ontmoedigd Maar sinds 1 juli is het me iedere week ruimschoots gelukt. Dit doel helpt me juist gefocust en concreet te werk te gaan! Durf doelen te stellen, durf in jezelf te geloven en blijf doorzetten! Dan is er enorm veel te bereiken ✨. (Jup, random bikini foto met iets te lange inspirational tekst die verder niks met die bikini te maken had it was 🤷🏼‍♀️ ).
