ACTUAL DEADLIFTS 🥳🥳🥳 So @alex .kent.1993 bought some more weights to train at home with and I could actually deadlift 🥳 Eased in with 4 sets at 75kgs. I browsed my archives for old bike photos because it's been a while since I did any riding outside. Then I realised I never posted this one! This was my first and only ironman at Challenge Roth back in 2014. That little Franconian town with a big heart for triathlon welcomed thousands of us for one magical weekend, and I have treasured its memory since. Quite a good way to check off a bucket list item 👌

• • • • • • Ahhh the hip thrusts🤤 the workout of wonders! To make sure you’re doing it right make sure you: 1. Keep your chin tucked to your chest to prevent injury! 2. Position your back right beneath your shoulder blades! 3. Feet flat on the ground - push with your heels! 4. Squeeze and hold for 2-5+ seconds at the top of the thrust for total engagement! Placement of the feet also matter! They tell you where in your legs it targets the most! - Feet closer to the body = quads - Feet farther from body = hamstrings - Feet at 90 degrees (directly beneath the knees ) = glutes🤤 Especially when using weights, it’s easy to hurt yourself. This is a great way of feeling fuller without splashing out of them valuable calories. ⠀ ⠀ Some simple swaps/ tips that I advise doing.⠀ ⠀ ☑️Swap your 15% beef mince to 5% lean mince. You don’t even want to know how much you can save.⠀ ☑️Add veggies to everything. When I make pasta, a lot of the time I will chuck whatever veg there is in the fridge in too. Mushrooms, Peppers, Onions. It’s a long caption but it’s important to me❤️ I’ve spent a lot of time since I got sick wanting to get back to normal. To go back to training like I used to, compete again, be that #irishfitfam girl again. I wanted to be the person I used to be. I’ve realised lately that I actually don’t want that at all. I don’t want to spend all day every day thinking about my diet, lifting, cardio and supplements. I don’t want to wake up at 5am to train, I don’t want everything I do to be checking a box, I don’t want to have every morsel of food that passes my lips be regimented, or feel the guilt of going off plan. I want to be more than my body, more than a booty and an eternal quest for six pack abs. I don’t want the pressure I put on myself to be perfect. Don’t get me wrong, I loved lifting weights, I loved feeling strong and I was proud of what I achieved, but I sacrificed a hell of a lot of fun, joy and life to be the #fitchick and deep down I really wasn’t happy. I don’t want fitness- I want health. I don’t want to limit myself to a social media stereotype, which is what I feel I was doing looking back. No shade to fitness accounts at all, I’m speaking only for myself. I fully appreciate that having an inconsistent insta feed mightn’t be what people are interested in seeing but frankly, I don’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t and won’t take it one bit personally if you don’t follow me. In fact, if I add no value to your life in any way, I’d encourage you to unfollow. A follower count does not reflect my value as a person and just cause you’ve followed me for years doesn’t mean you have to keep doing so. Fill your feed with people and creators that you resonate with, if you feel like shit after a scroll through Instagram, you need to make a change. For me, it’s time to release the person I used to be, and embrace who I’m becoming. Honestly, I like her better anyway 🥰 Thanks a million to anyone who managed to read all of this, it’s appreciated 💖

Living with Hypothyroidism - a condition when our thyroid is underactive. In 2015, it came as a shocker to me when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism,because by that time I had already lost 20 kgs of weight( I have been obese ever since I was a kid ) . And the saddest part was, I slowly started gaining back whatever weight I had lost. My doctor put me on medication and i started restricting my calories backed by intense workout sessions which started driving me crazy. I switched to running long distances and it only backfired. It was then when i realised that my body is different. I found my sweet spot where i was no longer restricting my calories but was just eating a nutrient dense diet. I switched to a combination of weight training ,cardio & yoga . It has been 5 years that I have lost all my post thyroid weight and i have been successful in keeping it away. Living with hypothyroidism means living with a slow metabolism,putting in double effort.
