It's like when one thing starts to go right another thing goes wrong. I take 5 steps forward and then 10 steps back. Right when I catch a blessing I then catch an L not long after that. I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like nothing is ever going to be good enough. I'm doing everything I'm suppose to be doing but yet I still come up short with things that I'm trying to achieve in my life. I'm not a selfish or Stingy person by any means in my opinion. I don't feel like I'm asking for too much, just to be happy for the most part. I want a woman to love me and have my back, I want my children to be healthy and grow up to be good, caring people and i would mind having a few bucks in the bank. that doesn't seem too outrageous to me??? Quarantine Physique Update I'm not gonna hit you with one of those "posed" vs "unposed" posts... that's a whole discussion for another time...these photos are 5 months apart. The one today is my new "before" so I want it as relaxed and realistic as possible. But really, the biggest change between these two photos is my energy level. I came into quarantine/COVID era the leanest I think I've ever been. March 6th was the end of the Gymshark66 challenge and I was feeling great. Being so consistent with my exercise and nutrition this spring had me feeling energized and unstoppable, really. • The past 5 months, I've given myself a break. In the beginning of all of this I had a lot of anxiety about not being able to lift (no equipment ), cycle, or go to the grocery store as frequently, etc. Decided I didn't need that pressure in my life and whatever happens happens 🤷🏼‍♀️ (only gained ~1 inch overall & 6 pounds ). I've been able to find the fun and creativity in a lot of these no equipment at-home workouts and obviously eating literally whatever you want whenever seems like a blast. However, I don't have the unstoppable energy that I had in the early spring when I was fueling my body in the most balanced way (and best way for my body, personally ). So back to counting my macros I go! • I typically will count macros 1-2 times a year for 1-3 months at a time. I use it as a reminder or refresher- once I've been doing it for 2-3 weeks, portioning out meals becomes automatic, a habit. It sets me up for the next 6 or so months of just intuitively being able to fuel myself without having to physically measure out everything. • Excited to get back into it! One of the biggest game-changers I’ve learned from my fitness coach that affected ALL aspects of my life was the importance of continuing to take steps forward, even if the pace fluctuates. Welcome to a new week in which what you do NOW counts the most, as it does with every new week. In other words: if last week was a bust, ok! Stay on track for your goals this week and work to get better. If last week was great, also good! Now make this week even better, don’t let the motivation and strength fade on you! Hard work is great, but hard work combined with ambition combined with consistency is even better, so make this week one challenge yourself to get better smarter and stronger. Don’t just use progressive overload in the gym, too...use it in life! Yesterday night I really was struggling to finish off the macros and I just barely hit 3000 calories, leaving me with a horrible stomach ache. But, for the most part, I slept the food and my intense leg workout off and today I woke up ready to hit it. Ate a hearty breakfast of @ghostlifestyle proats (the Chips Ahoy flavor makes oatmeal something to look forward to! ) and some berries as well as eggs and then hit a pr output of 300 kilojoules in 30 minutes on the @peloton !! I also made sure to have a couple big glasses of water not only to help flush out last nights food, but because last week I slacked on hydration and my goal is to improve on that this week! I had to do the loop one more time before I left! Walked 1, ran 1, repeat for this endeavor. This past week felt so good physically. My knee is definitely mostly mended. I don't want to push it and injure myself again so I've been trying to mix it up with walking and running. Anxiety is more than panic attacks and constant worrying. It is constant mind racing, obsessing over the future, trying to control every aspect of your life. It’s something that has become so debilitating to me in recent months, that I have been actively working on. When I got into a serious car accident on Saturday night, I immediately reverted to my old habits, my old thoughts. I took the victim stance, and tried to say, “why me, why did this happen, of course this happens to me, only bad things happen to me”. Instead, I sat there and thought for a second, “why did this happen to me”, and I thought about it, and realized, this could have been something that I needed. By no means do I mean a car accident is what I needed, but more so a situation that caused extreme stress and anxiety for me to truly see the work I have been doing pay off. I allowed myself to think my usual way, and then I challenged myself, and allowed myself to realize, this was my anxiety speaking. My anxiety was fueling my inner child, my inner worry. I was thinking this way because I didn’t have control, I didn’t know the next step, so couldn’t have the answers I wanted, right then and there. I was allowing myself to continue to think this way because my anxiety thrives in these situations. I stopped myself and checked the facts. I was safe, others were safe. I was able to go home that night, with minor scrapes and bruises and pain. My car was completely wrecked, and, that can be replaced. I slowly allowed myself to try to retrain my brain and say those things over and over again, and remind myself that, I can’t control everything, and everything will work out, when it needs to. I realized, nothing happens to anyone that they can’t handle. You can handle anything that is thrown at you, if you respond in a way that is kind to yourself. I can handle these stressful situations, and other situations that arise. I’m capable of stopping, checking the facts, challenging myself, and realizing that my anxiety does not define me. My anxiety, is simply just my anxiety, not who I am.
