It was a weird time to move to a new city. However, I’m managed to make a few badass friends. This weekend we went to Moab to climb, hike, and get away from the city. One of my favorite trips of all time. Even though I dislocated my shoulder the day before we left and couldn’t join in all the fun, I had an absolute BLAST! #moab #utah #rockclimbing #climbing #hiking #canyons #waterfall #adventure #videography #goodtimes #greatpeoples

This is a long but memorable story Anniversary little trip. We did HOG 2 in North Wash. One big rappel and a lot of ascending. Our bodies (Romina’s ) were not prepared for this one. Took us too long to find the entrance. Weren’t sure if it was Hog 2 (we only had rope for that one ). The rappel was bigger than expected. The slot was so narrow and we did something we never imagined we could do. We RETURNED the same way. Which means we ascended and I (Romina ) was not prepared. I stemmed a lot and Marshall pulled me too. There were tears of course! Tears of lost hope, it’s not first time I think this is it, but I knew I was going to spend the night there. I was 1 meter away from the rock that could lead to the last big ascent, but it was so narrow, I was stuck there, crying and cursing Marshall because he would keep saying, “there is no plan B .Take a deep breath and look again. You can do it!”. He never gave up on me like I did with myself. He even told me, Romina, la ropa la ropa! Followed by, I know ropa is clothes! Hahahaha I was laughing in tears. After like two hours of tears, lost hope, curses (sorry amor ), failures, my body talked to me and said, face the other way. So I did, Marshall was below me as a support. He pushed and with last drop of energy I pulled the rope and got out. Marshall was so happy that he forgot he was still there and he was the next to do the same. Dehydrated, hungry and tired we went to the last challenge that looked easy in contrast: the 60 feet ascent in a total vertical wall. Oh man! That son of b... almost got us. The rappel down was definitely more fun and less painful. Marshall made it look so “easy”. But it wasn’t. I tried to go up myself, I couldn’t. He pulled me up while I was trying to go up with every resource I could. After that, I could see the last rays of sun of the day while thinking in my head “this was so close”.... . . . #canyons #utah #canyoneering #canyoning #barranquismo #canyon #adventure #nature #hiking #explore #northwash #rappel #mountain #canyoneer #travel #rappeling #picoftheday #rapel #abseil #anniversary #mountains #canyonisme #descenso #trip #camping #expedition #photooftheday

How cool would that be to live in the stone structure out on the end of this land bridge. Views in every direction. Dont be scared of heights getting out to it though.

. . 📸Foto: @dantefabiano . 📍 Canyons do Rio São Francisco, divisa Bahia/Alagoas. . . . #caniondesaofrancisco #alagoas #bahia #pauloafonso #pauloafonsobahia #pauloafonsoba #turismo #saofrancisco #nordeste #sertao #nordestemeulindo #riosãofrancisco #photography #caniosdosaofrancisco #canyons .

The world is black and white, and many shades of grey. It is also all colors at once.🖤💛💚💜🧡❤️💙 ____ I cringe when I hear the words, “When things go back to normal.” I certainly don’t want them to. I don’t think it’s possible. ____ I’m not talking about wearing masks, going out to eat, sports, and social distancing...I’m talking about paying attention to how our actions affect our neighbors, our elders, people we perceive as different from ourselves. ____ Covid-19 in all its monstrosity is pushing us to take actions that help other humans. We stay closer to home, we donate to those in need, we reduce consumption, we place our awareness beyond our own sphere. _____ It also sheds light on issues that are not new—oppression, racism, neglect, disadvantage, hate—and communities facing these realities are still being hit HARDEST. Meanwhile the other cruel impacts of these injustices continue to compound upon these same people in their most vulnerable states. ____ We cannot ignore it nor hide from these realities just because they don’t seem to be our own. Beyond our personal struggles, our desire to move past this weird time, I hope instead of the words, “back to normal”, we will start to say, “Let’s make things better!” Not just better in how we deal with this pandemic, but in how we stand up, speak out, and treat each other and the environment. _____ This is for everyone. This is for Ahmaud Arbery & George Floyd whose voices we will not allow to be silenced by hate crimes and police brutality. This is for the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe and San Juan Southern Paiutes who we cannot allow to be silenced by the weight of Covid-19. This is for the Ute Mountain Ute tribe whose voices cannot be overpowered by radioactive waste shipped to their lands from Europe. This is for the countless voices that are being silenced each time we turn a cheek and focus only on going about our business instead of doing our best to help each other amplify them. ____ We need to do better. This is a major opportunity, perhaps the biggest we’ve collectively had in our lives. And that starts with refusing to stay silent, not just for yourself and your neighbors, but all mankind. #icantbreathe

And now for something completely different: a verdant spring in a secluded place! It's difficult to reach this turn in Tulsa, OK's Crow Creek canyon, but the view is worth it. This landscape offers a calm, quiet place to read and reflect upon my novels - the sentimental "God's Furry Angels" duo, the dark comedy "The Road to Renewal," and the epic "The Prophet and the Dove." To see more views of Crow Creek, or to just enjoy my other photos, go to my updated "Nature" slide show on my website, www.kirbyleedavis.com/nature. There you may also partake other slide shows, my songs, my poetry, my blogs... . #somethingcompletelydifferent #kirbyleedavis #tulsaphotographer #oklahomaphotographer #myphotography #slideshows #lovenature #naturephotographer #landscapes #landscapephotographer #streams #streamphoto #canyons #canyonphotographer #christianbookstagrammer #booklover #bookaholics #godsfurryangels #roadtorenewal #prophetandthedove
