As #koreadathon draws to a close I finished Model. Definitely not one of my favorite series. I'd give it a 2.5 overall. It was waaaay too confusing but at least there was a resolution in the end. Finished all of my #koreadathontbr except for one audiobook. Will keep listening cause it's SOOO GOOD!! Enjoyed this #readathon . #book #bookish #booklover #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #manga #manwha #mangastagram #mangastagrammer #koreadathon2020

What was your favorite weekend read? . . My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell is a good, problematic, painful, and healing read. This book is a modern day telling of Lolita (of sorts ), told from the perspective of Vanessa, both as a highschool student and years later as an adult. . . Vanessa views the years of abuse she suffered at the hand of her highschool English teacher as her first relationship, unable or unwilling to see what happened as abuse. Years later, as an adult, allegations are made against this teacher and Vanessa is forced to reevaluate the narrative that she has told herself and lived with for years. Vanessa is not necessarily a likeable character, and there is no feeling of absolute resolution, but I think both of these factors are important. Abuse is messy, and the road to healing is not always linear, easy, or beautiful. . . This book drew me in and was a quick read, while at the same time I found myself having to put the book aside in disgust and pain. While Nabokov does not explicitly describe the abuse that occurs, Russell does not shy away with depicting scenes of abuse and that can be difficult to stomach. This book was well written and I'm glad I read it, but it is certainly not a book to read I'd you're looking for easy summer reading. . . Obviously read this book with content warnings of child abuse, rape, assault, mental illness, and suicide. #bookstagram #book #bookcommunity #books #review #booknerd #bookreview #b #flatlay #bookcover #art #read #bookstagramer #literature #bookish #bookaddict #readmore #photography #poppiesandpages #reading #aesthetic #instabook #bookaesthetic #mydarkvanessa #femaleauthors #lolita #photooftheday #bookphotography #audiobooks #nabokov

✨Book review✨ ✨July reads✨ The Book Thief 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Two weeks to change the world, and fourteen days to ruin it"- The Book Thief "I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right"- The Book Thief My goodness, I don't know where to start. I'm lost for words. All I can say, is that I absolutely loved this book and its definitely a must read 👍. A story about love and loss, in World War II era. Liesel is introduced to 'death' (the narrator of this story ) from a very young age. Liesel lives with her foster parents, where she learns to read from her beloved Papa (foster father ). Ultimately, this ignites her passion for the love of words and the art of book thievery. However, during dangerous times they are hiding a secret, hidden in their basement, Max a German Jew. The unlikeliest friendships begins to form between Max and Liesel. They have more in common than you would think. Please if you haven't read this book as yet, read it now or add it to your TBR list. I simply could not put it down! Happy sunday, Most of yaa already read this book. But i read this book again after high school because the racial inequality is going on now a days and i want to know the history of racism as well. I supported BLACK LIFE MATTERS movement. I first read this book in high school. Looking back, i now realize that i definitely wasn’t old enough to appreciate this book for what it was This book has lauded for confroythe issue of racial inequality in America. But did it really? Because the black characters were disappointingly kept silent the entire time. They were not given a voice and were instead treated as objects and used as a mere narrative device. “N “word is used alot in this text, which i understand is because of the fact its set in the 1930s. Everytime I read this Word it makes me sad. This book carries with it a very unique and authentic sense of humour, whilst also bringing to light many important themes and issues . The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish 📖 Every once in a while, I come across a book that has me so immersed that my own life becomes an interruption. Characters that have me so invested, that my family has to watch from the sidelines till I’m finished and can be engaged in any meaningful conversation again. For these reasons, and so many more, The Weight Of Ink by Rachel Kadish will likely be my favourite read this year. 📖 Book Review 📖 Crank by Ellen Hopkins ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crank is about a teenager, Kristina, and her burgeoning addiction to the drug crystal meth, aka crank. Kristina stays with her absentee father for a few weeks where she discovers her alter-ego, Bree. Kristina is a good girl, Bree is not. Bree will do anything and everything, especially if it involves crank. Ellen Hopkins based Kristina off of her own daughter, something I find extremely brave and raw. I love the way Crank was written. I especially love the double meaning. (Swipe to see ) you read the page normally and then the words to the right from top to bottom. The writing style is so unique that I just want to read all of Ellen Hopkins books. Crank shows the difficulties teenagers can face and how recreational drug use can spiral out of control and into full-blown addiction. This book shows drug use from the first encounter and shows you how quickly addiction takes hold. You can see how addicts change and begin to behave differently. I would recommend this book for young adults and older. This is a great, powerful read for anyone wanting to understand addiction from the addict's viewpoint. 💙 My best friend @the .grim.readerrr recommended Crank and her wonderful self lent it to me 💙

I just crushed The Bromance Book Club in two days and absolutely loved it! Now I am FINALLY on to Daisy Jones & The Six and positively cannot wait to dive into this book. . I feel like I am so behind with reading this but am really looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about and chatting with bookstagram friends about the book when I’m done! . It has been cloudy and rainy in Alaska the last few days so there haven’t been many opportunities to get out into the mountains and take in some scenery - however, it made perfect conditions for cozy reading! I hope everyone had a restful and bookish weekend!

☀️🌴🌸Well that was not what I expected! I really didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did - it was very much a purchase inspired purely from the promo it’s received on Instagram and the sheep inside me had to know what the fuss was about. #bigsummer is told through the narrative of Daphne, a big girl and social media influencer who emerged online after embracing her body (or so she posts ). She’s recently picked up a new client and is cautiously excited about wearing her new outfits at the upcoming summer event: Stuart and Drue’s Cape Town beach wedding. Drue was one of Daphne’s oldest friends until she betrayed her and years later begged her to be in her bridal party. Once accepting and while at the world’s most extravagant wedding (Persian carpets tossed on the sandy beach ) Daphne meets what seems like the man of her dreams - until the next morning when everything turns upside down. That’s all I can say without ruining the plot! I really was surprised! What I liked about this book: the strange Scooby gang vibe that kicked in in the latter half, the delicious descriptions of food, Daphne’s relationship with her father, and the envious backdrops it painted in Cape Town. But what I liked most was there were a lot of sincere thoughts in this book, the struggle with body image, the illusion of social media, and the trials of friendship. Daphne and Drue had an imperfect friendship. Drue was not an objectively nice woman and Daphne allowed herself to be her sidekick. But they did love each other and that’s the truth of friendship sometimes. Also I loved that poem!!! “A lovely memory/ until eternity/ she came, she loved, and then she went away” - it reminded me of the poem Cameron Diaz reads in In her Shoes (I carry it in my heart ) Long story short- great book and on the topic of body image and social media - don’t let the world feed you what is beautiful, let your life, your body, your image be one you choose for you. Nothing else is worth the effort; everyone is front and centre stage in their own broadway show and we are all just the lighting crew. We all think everyone’s watching but really we are all just focused on ourselves ✌️

⭐️⭐️ Unsatisfying. So I recently picked up this copy of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and to my surprise it was a graphic novel! I don’t have anything against graphic novels (I love Rainbow Rowell and Raina Telgemier ), but this classic just didn’t work in this format. I appreciated the story but there just wasn’t enough depth or detail to make it as thorough as the real book. I also haven’t read the real book, so I’m gonna start looking for it in every thrift shop and book store I enter! #drjekyllandmrhyde #robertlouisstevenson

It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets to the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they're worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help. Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other's arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder - would they be better off staying in this place forever? Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won't be the same people who landed on it. 📚📖📚📖📚 I absolutely loved the beginning of this trilogy. Lilac and Tarver come from two different backgrounds but as a tragedy forced them together, you can see their relationship evolve. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy. 5/5 and definitely recommend this book. #books #bookstagram #book #reading #booklover #bookworm #bookish #read #bookstagrammer #booknerd #bookaddict #bibliophile #instabook #booksofinstagram #bookshelf #love #bookaholic #reader #bookphotography #booklove #instabooks #booksbooksbooks #yafantasybooks #yabooks #yabookstagram #yabookstagrammer

~~Beautiful Day~~ • • Cue The Beatles, Young the Giant, Wallows and nostalgic summer ballads. Heady, humid afternoons and evenings that smell like nectar. Late nights, early mornings and the fireflies in between. All-day road trips and weeks on the couch. Summer is my favorite time of year, and quarantine is still yet to change that. I’ve obviously had to spend more time at home than usual, but after awhile, a person adjusts. • • Not yet, but slowly, life will return to normal. But we won’t. Hopefully, we will be forever changed, as both communities and individuals. We will emerge a people more occupied with the well-being of others than our own. Hopeful lying , each one of us will remember more often to recognize the joys of life as they come—precious and fleeting moments shared friends, family, and even strangers. And maybe, we’ll also learn to realize that joy can truly be found in anything. Because, despite times of loneliness and waves of uncertainty for our earthly future, the sun will sometimes hit the horizon just right and fill the world with warm waves of color. • ^^^ I suppose those last two sentences were just a lengthy and melodramatic way of reminding you to appreciate the little blessings in life. Right now, I may be the happiest (and corniest ) version of myself yet. I’m stressed about college on the low, but it only takes an occasional breath of fresh air to snap out of it. • • If you’ve made it this far into my post, I have a job for you. Go on a walk and smile at a stranger. If you find a weird bug, dm me a picture of it. Thanks 💫

I just finished ‘The Hate U Give’ by @angiethomas and I wish I read this sooner. This book did everything right. I paired it up with the audiobook which made the reading experience much better being able to hear the emotions behind the words. I love the family representation in this book so much. There is this misconception that all black people come from broken families yet Starr the main character has two loving parents that are together, siblings, a loving uncle and just a huge supportive family in general. This book tackled so many things, so well. Calling out “friends”, what it’s like being an interracial couple standing up and speaking out for what is right, grief and feeling lost. Even though this was fiction it’s based on real life every day experiences. But I also loved seeing Starr develop through this book. It really hit close to home seeing how Starr struggled with not wanting to be too black and labeled as the ‘angry black woman” at her majority white school and being called “white” around other black people. Something I’ve dealt with myself growing up. The sense of community is so strong in this book and I feel like that’s the point showing the importance of sticking together, there’s strength in community. I even laughed at times whenever Starr and her mom had conversations because it reminded me of so many conversations I’ve had with my own mom, even the ones where Starr was in trouble. This book was just simply phenomenal and one that everyone should read!! Overall rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

BOOK REVIEW!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 stars! • Blurb - Emoni wants to be a chef more than anything, but having a 2-year-old daughter, and being 17 and still at school, isn’t exactly making life easy. The one place she can let everything go is in the kitchen, where she has magical hands - whipping up extraordinary food beloved by everyone from her grandmother to her best friend Angelica. Emoni knows, though, that there are rules she has to play by. And yet, once she gets cooking, her passion to feed will nourish her soul and dreams too. With the fire on high, anything is possible.... • This was a really interesting book to read as I’ve never read anything in the perspective of a teen mother! The story moves through time quite quickly yet I still felt immersed in the story like I was part of it myself, watching from the sideline or something😄 The characters and character development was lovely. I loved Emoni’s little family and how much love there was between her and Emma💜 I could see that the storyline had a clear direction and a few little side plots too which were enjoyable😊 I loved reading about Emoni cooking, it made me so hungry and wishing I was an amazing cook like her, everytime🙌😄 For me this book is probably going to be one of my comfort reads😊💜 the only reason for taking half a star away was coz I felt like there was a few moments in the book that felt a little rushed that I would’ve enjoyed reading more of😊 Have you read this book? If so, let me know if you enjoyed it😋 • #bookreview #bookstagram #books #reading #shelfie #bookshelves #bookshelf #yabooks #yareads #igreads #igbooks #bookworm #bookish #bookstafeatures #mybookfeatures #yacontemporary #booklover #bookaddict #bookstack #readingisfun #fantasybooks #sarahjmaas #leighbargudo #elizabethacevedo #fictionbooks #yafiction #bookaesthetic #bookdragon #booknerd

"...we were looking at the same sky together, which is maybe even more intimate than eye contact anyway. I mean, anybody can look at you. It's quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see." - Turtles all the way down, John Green . . I remember reading this book in December 2017. It was a gift from my boyfriend. And after reading it, every time when we would kiss, I would tell him about the bacterias 😂 it was so much fun. . It always fascinated me how I could be completely in somebody else's head while I'm reading and I couldn't care less about what was happening around me. Like living a whole new life. . Obviously I liked the book and the spiraling thoughts of Aza did keep me occupied for a really long time. But the immediate intimacy and heartfelt stories of young adults in books make me hold onto my stories. It gives me hope. . . . . . . . . . . . #johngreen #turtlesallthewaydown #bookstagram #theb00kstagram #booklover #bookworm #bookphoto #bookgram #bookobsessed #booknerd #bibliophile #bookaddict #bookaholic #bookish #ilovereading #ilovebooks #bookrecommendation #bookstagramindia #bookstagramindiafeature #bookishbong #magicofbookstagram

#illumicratejun2020 Mug + Vicious or Vengeful These are high on my reread list right now because @katrinack8 finally read them and we need to gush over how perfect @veschwab is 😍 • QOTD: Who’s your favorite antihero? • AOTD: Victor Vale is up there on the list but I also love Jude Duarte and Kaz Brekker and Deadpool

🎆Sunday🎆⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ “𝘙𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.” -Robin Hood⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐐𝐎𝐓𝐃 What is a classic legend/story/fairytale world that you would love to visit? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve always been fascinated by the legend of Robin Hood and I would love to go to that fantasy world. And I got a chance I read Outlawed by Hayley Osborn. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Outlawed is a retelling of the classic legend where a girl travels back in time to help Robin Hood became the legend we know him as today as opposed to a common thief. Maryanne has always known the character of Robin Hood to be a criminal, but all of her preconceived notions are turned upside down as she finds herself in the middle of a dangerous and tangled web between Robin and The Sheriff of Nottingham. As her feelings for Robin change, Maryanne faces a choice: to return home to her family, or to stay with the man she loves. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was really pleasantly surprised by this book. It’s a very original take on the legend with romance, intrigue, and lots of action. I loved Osborn’s writing and I look forward to completing the series! Full review can be found on my GR page in the link in my bio!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣ #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #bookstafam #bookworm #booklovers #bookdragon #coverlove #booklove #bibliophile #bookishlife #readersofinstagram #readerlife #bookish #bookishcommunity #amreading #ireadya #yafantasy #bookphotography #bookstalore #BookstaEngage #readersrejoice #bookstaultimate #thealpha_nerdsfamily #sundayshelfie #outlawed #bookreview
