Switched up a resistance for another LISS, not because I wanted to, but because my body needed more rest, and that's okay! It’s Friday and I’m so glad to get a break from the busy this week. Today brought some long overdue relief and clarity. It’s amazing how much stress comes with lack of clarity. IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A BREAKTHROUGH⚡️⚡️ . It’s really tough having a string of bad races where you are underperforming to your potential & just KNOWING that you have more in you! The day after Tokyo- I wanted to run my redemption race the next month… but I knew I wasn’t ready physically/ mentally to be able to do what I did yesterday. I cannot more highly recommend taking a step back after some tough races, re-evaluating and rebuilding. . What I did different to finally break through? Well, EVERYTHING!😅🙌🏽 . 💙I prioritized recovery. Sleep, rolling, rest days, supplements. . 💙I did training that worked for me & that I could see progress from- not comparing my mileage to others- but just doing what MY body could handle. . 💙I worked on the mental component of running- & finally learning how to use my mind to 1. Stay strong in a race & 2. Set me up for good races & workouts by visualizing SUCCESS & not playing out all my failure scenarios. . 💙I ran & dreamed with training partners. Iron sharpens iron. I know that we all became stronger & faster from working hard together. . 💙I learned how to stay uncomfortable while running & know that I can stay in that zone for a lot longer than I thought I could. . 💙I worked on my form. A LOT. . 💙I ran FAST & SHORT stuff. How can marathon pace ever feel easy if that is in your threshold range?! I brought threshold pace down to a new level this cycle, making MP feel casual. . 💙I REALLY believed that I was a better runner than my times showed & that it was just a matter of time (pun intended ) until my marathon time would drop. Until you really believe this, you won’t work for it like it’s bound to happen. . 💙I dropped the attitude of someone who kept getting knocked out & started finding the confidence needed to start running fast & believing I could achieve my goals! . There’s no quick fix, 3 step program to get a 17 min PR. The difference was a whole reprogramming of myself -physically, emotionally, and mentally. . . 🗣What do you think your running needs to breakthrough to the next level?

Peanut butter banana choc chip bread (V ) 🥜🍫🍌🍞 • I feel like I just make a different variation of banana bread each week but I don’t mind because banana bread is my all-time favourite loaf 😜 • Tbh though, some weeks I lose motivation to make new recipes. The last few weeks in particular have been very difficult in terms of trying to balance all my different avenues of work, exercise, sleep and self care. I never use to be able to nap but I’ve taken more naps in the last month than I have in my entire life-time (and that’s probably not a good thing ). Ideally, I would love to get back to posting new recipes 2-3x/week on here because I love doing it. But right now, I feel like my creative spark has kinda fizzled from being so tired and stressed all the time. But finding balance in all areas of my life is something I am consistently working on. Keep your eyes peeled 🍌 because I’ll be hopefully posting more frequently soon ❤️ • Choc chip peanut butter banana bread recipe: ▪️250g banana, mashed ▪️1 egg/flax egg ▪️110g @csrsugar lite sugar ▪️1 tsp cinnamon ▪️1 tbsp @mayversfood smooth peanut butter ▪️1 tsp baking powder ▪️1 tsp baking soda ▪️60g olive oil spread (or vegan butter ) ▪️200g @nakedfoods whole-wheat self raising flour ▪️30g peanut butter powder ▪️100g @loving_earth dark chocolate, chunked • Icing: ▪️120g coconut cream, chilled white part only ▪️20g @pureharvest rice malt syrup ▪️20g powdered peanut butter • Directions: 1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 180C 2️⃣ Mix all the wet banana bread ingredients in a bowl until well incorporated 3️⃣ Add the dry ingredients, except chocolate, and mix until smooth. Gently fold in chocolate 3️⃣ Spread batter evenly in a lined small loaf tin and bake for 35-40min 4️⃣ Allow to cool completely before icing 5️⃣ To make icing, mix all icing ingredients until smooth 6️⃣ Spread icing over loaf. Optional: drizzle melted chocolate on top of icing

Okay let’s talk about it, the hardest part about flying: the weird schedules and always on the go! I have been flying for 3 years and I never seem to have a break... until now of course 😅 when I started flying I worked out but the thrill of layovers, travel & my forgetfulness to pack workout clothes really made me lose sight of a healthy lifestyle 😅 unfortunately the flight attendant 15 is a thing. I set off in quarantine with the hopes to workout more and with the encouragement of my sister we always made time for it! Eventually I saw the progress I wanted! THE BEST SIMPLE SALAD + PURPLE PASTA?? 😲🤔 // I don’t want to say a salad will change your life because frankly, I don’t even LIKE salad that much. As I mentioned in my post earlier this week, I much prefer to have my lettuce in smoothies and use herbs as a base for more creative salads come dinnertime. ⁣ ⁣ But! Sometimes you have a dish—pasta is a big one for me—that just begs for a simple, perfect, leafy green salad as accompaniment. That’s when I then to what I call the Best Simple Salad (patent pending ). ⁣ ⁣ To make it, just toss any green with some salt. Microplane on some lemon zest and garlic (I use 1 lemon and 2-3 cloves for every 4 person serving or so! ). Toss to coat. Add just enough lemon juice and olive oil to coat but not make soggy, and toss again! That’s it!⁣ ⁣ It’s SO fresh and SO good, and the health benefits are amazing—garlic is antibacterial and antiviral, especially when eaten raw and grated, and lemon zest has flavonoids that protect your skin from the sun and your cells from cancer. Honestly, I hate salad, but this is one you’ll be excited to make.⁣ ⁣ As for that pasta—well, it has only three ingredients, and one of them adds a unique, amazing flavor, a ton of nutrients, AND makes it a gorgeous purpley magenta color.
