Vielen Dank an @nonsense .and.sensibility 😘! ~~~ Heute also: Overall Favourite! (Sir William Lucas - Christopher Benjamin ), "My humble abode..." (Mr. Collins - David Bamber ), "You have no compassion on my poor nerves!" (Mrs. Bennet - Alison Steadman ). ~~~ #janeawesomewednesday #janeaustenfan #emma2020 #prideandprejudice1995 #persuasion1995

#janeawesomewednesday . Simply the best.... sigh. . . . “When your legs don't work like they used to before And I can't sweep you off of your feet Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70 (and beyond😉😂 ) And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23 And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways Maybe just the touch of a hand Oh me I fall in love with you every single day And I just wanna tell you I am So honey now Take me into your loving arms (FINALLY 😅 ) Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars Place your head on my beating heart I'm thinking out loud Maybe we found love right where we are When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades And the crowds don't remember my name When my hands don't play the strings the same way, mm I know you will still love me the same 'Cause honey your soul can never grow old, it's evergreen Baby your smile's forever in my mind and memory I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways Maybe it's all part of a plan I'll just keep on making the same mistakes Hoping that you'll understand But baby now Take me into your loving arms Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars Place your head on my beating heart I'm thinking out loud That maybe we found love right where we are, oh So baby now Take me into your loving arms Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars Oh darling, place your head on my beating heart I'm thinking out loud That maybe we found love right where we are Oh baby, we found love right where we are (maybe ) And we found love right where we are” #edsheeran

I’ve got some cosy yellow vibes going here for the last week of #thefellowshipofbooks prompts hosted so wonderfully by @heart_of_a_bookworm - Here at the End of All Things: favourite endings. 💛🍁🧡 . I’ve picked Pride & Prejudice and Anne of Avonlea for having satisfying happy endings, or the hope of one in the future, ones that mean something and have substance to them, where the characters changed for the better together. And also because I can relate them to my love story too! (I got the locket on top of P&P for our tenth anniversary a few years ago. ) 🥰📚🥰 . “With the Gardiners, they were always on the most intimate terms. Darcy, as well as Elizabeth, really loved them; and they were both ever sensible of the warmest gratitude towards the persons who, by bringing her into Derbyshire, had been the means of uniting them.” ~ Pride & Prejudice 🌻 . “For a moment Anne’s heart fluttered queerly and for the first time her eyes faltered under Gilbert’s gaze and a rosy flush stained the paleness of her face. It was as if a veil that had hung before her inner consciousness had been lifted, giving to her view a revelation of unsuspected feelings and realities. Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music; perhaps... perhaps... love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath. ~ Anne of Avonlea 🌹 . . . #booksandtea #booksandcandles #favoriteending #anneofavonlea #prideandprejudice #booklove #bookstagram #takeasipturnapage #penguinclothboundclassics #booksandjewelry #anneofgreengablesbooks #penguinclassics #sourcebooksfire #teaandbooks #candlesandbooks #anneofgreengables #cosy #hygge #booksandquilts #bookquotes #janeausten #lmmontgomery #lmmontgomerymonday

Okay... I know it's not #JaneAwesomeWednesday and I know I'm a little behind the times... but I just watched the new 2020 movie of Emma. I had some thoughts - many, but we'll be concise. . 🌷Rumors of 'aesthetically pleasing' were true - loved the pastel colors along with crisp white. 🌷Never wanted to see either Mr. Knightley's butt or Emma's. Definitely not both. 🌷Why was Emma bleeding out during the proposal??? - blood getting all in her teeth and everything... It's like I'm suddenly watching a horror film! 🌷And at the risk of sounding quite snobby, that's about it. . To summarize, I thought of this movie what Mr. Knightley thinks of Harriet Smith: "Pretty, but that is all." 😬 . Whew! I just had to share. . 📖 What were your thoughts? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksofinstagram #booksofig #igbooks #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #bibliophile #bookcollector #bookaholic #bookarrangement #classic #classicliterature #classiclitnetwork #mybookfeatures #frommybookshelf #vintage #booksandflowers #victorian #driedflowers #emma #emmamovie #janeaustenfan #janeausten #janeaustenmovies #misswoodhouse #mrknightley #pastel #emma2020

🍂 🍁 🍂 The leaves are changing and WE ARE HERE FOR IT! Autumn just makes us want to curl up in a fuzzy blanket and drink tea and read a Jane Austen book (today we’re feeling sense and sensibility?? ). We all felt that universally fall is the most loved season.. are we right?? Or is it all in our heads? 😂 Either way, we hope you all get to read a little bit of Jane this week, and hopefully get to see some beautiful crunchy leaves soon 🍂

This week’s #janeawesomewednesday prompt is Razzie Award. This one pains me and will be controversial with some fans, but I’m going with Sanditon. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it, because I did, even though I have mixed feelings. I do realize the creators had a lot of artistic license since it’s based on an unfinished work. There are two things that clinched it for me, however. One, this adaptation got bogged down with the weight of its own ambition. It could’ve easily been a mini series, but they were going for multiple seasons which brings me to the second thing I dislike the most, that terrible ending. Not only does it go against the grain of the happy and satisfying endings of JA, it’s a cliffhanger that’ll never be resolved because the series was cancelled. So disappointing! . . . #bookstagram #janeausten #austenfan #sanditon #austenadaptation #janeite #bookblogger #perioddrama #bookstagrammer #literaryclassics #englishliterature #bookishcandle #bookstagramcommunity #bookandcandle #janeaustencandle #janeaustenbooks #janeaustenlovers

This week's #janeawesomewednesday has us pick out the worst adaptation, and I just know this topic will be controversial. 😃 🎹 I've gone with a pretty safe choice with the 1981 Sense & Sensibility. It's tedious. It's unimaginative. It's on a tight budget with no other strokes of brilliance to make you forget how little money went into the production. But, what makes this one unbearable to me is Irene Richard as Elinor Dashwood. Calling her acting robotic is an insult to robots everywhere. Her wooden face is unable to form any sort of an expression. I enjoyed her as Charlotte Lucas in Pride & Prejudice, so I don't know what happened here. 🎹 Honourable mention goes to Scents & Sensibility. Seriously, Who makes a modern Austen adaptation with an all white cast? Get out of here. #janeausten #senseandsensiblity #bookstagram

Hello and Happy #janeawesomewednesday !!! : Today, I feel, Valérie set up this #prompt , just so she could sit down, with a cup of tea, and watch the passionate opinions fly for our nominations as to which Austen adaptation wins the (not so coveted ) Razzie Award. 😂 @nonsense .and.sensibility : But I am here for it! [So, sit back and pass the popcorn 🍿] : My nomination is the 1996 movie adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow. In my opinion, there are only 3 redeeming qualities about this version: #1 Jeremy Northam, as the handsome, Mr. Knightley. (I still prefer Jonny Lee Miller ) #2 Sophie Thompson, as the always-talkative, Miss Bates. #3 Juliet Stevenson, as the vain socialite, Mrs. Elton : Aside from this, this movie had no redeeming qualities. Gwyneth Paltrow has the weirdest accent, Toni Collette (even though I love her ) is too old for the role of Harriet Smith. Most of the interactions between the characters felt forced or over-acted. It was a hard two hours to get through, guys. 😬🙈 : How do you feel? : #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #literature #fiction #bookworm #booklover #booknerd #books #read #reader #reading #bibliophile #love #bookish #bookshelf #bookclub #bookmoments #treasure #janeausten #janeites #emma #gwynethpaltrow #mrknightley #razzieawards #happywednesday

#janeawesomewednesday September 23rd: Joker. what was the first or last adaptation you watched? . on Sunday evening i warmed up a gluten free chocolate twist, curled up under my duvet and watched the 2005 movie adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. . this is not as good as the 90s BBC mini series (which i finished rewatching the day before ) but i still enjoy this adaptation. i prefer some of the casting in this (particularly Jane and Wickham ) and the cinematography is just perfection in my eyes. . #bookreviewer #bookreviewersofinstagram #booktomovieadaptation #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksofinstagram #reading #readers #readersofinstagram

Can we please talk about how WILD the 1999 adaptation of Mansfield Park is??? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Frances O'Connor playing Fanny Price as a vibrantly beautiful and outspoken heroine who cannot WILL NOT BE CONTAINED. She must burst free! She must gallop across fields! She must write! She must basically be the EXACT OPPOSITE of the Fanny we see in the book. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ OMG IT'S FANNY PRICE SLIDING DOORS EDITION ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #janeawesomewednesday (Jane Austen on Screen ) hosted by @nonsense .and.sensibility. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a faithful adaptation of a most beloved novel, I cannot recommend. But as an Austen inspired movie experience, I quite enjoy it. It's honestly less of an adaptation and more of a parallel reimagining. The film is gorgeous and the score is perfectly mesmerizing. You'll be humming the song from the ball sequence all week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Plus, there's that small matter of the Henry Crawford glow-up: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Per Austen's text, Henry Crawford is charming but clearly marked out as not handsome. Well the casting director took some liberties, because WOWEE. Someone get me a glass of water. This Henry Crawford is SWOONY, and you would be entirely excused for thinking that Fanny is a complete git to refuse him. @kerryanndunn , please back me up here 😂. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No copies of Mansfield Park in this photo, but I wanted to include my bird teacup. If you've seen the film, you'll understand. Hint: Fanny is a bird. SYMBOLISM. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #janeite #janeausten #janeaustenbooks #janeaustenfan #mansfieldpark #prideandprejudice #everydaywithjane #janeaustenbookclub #janeaustenlovers #classicliterature #classicbooks #classicreads #literaturelover #prettybooks #avidreader #booksilove #fortheloveofbooks #lovelybooks #bookster #booksfordays #readerlife #beautifulbooks #bookishlife #bookcollector #bookishallure #bookcollection #bookstack #booksandteacups #booksandtea

⁣ Today’s fun #JaneAwesomeWednesday prompt is Razzie Award. Razzies are given out to the worst films of the year. So what’s the worst Austen adaptation? Well, this is my pick. ⁣ ⁣ Here’s the thing: I normally love Sally Hawkins. In 𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘎𝘰-𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺, 𝘗𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘰𝘯 and 𝘗𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝟸, 𝘔𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘦, 𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘦, she’s delightful. But I HATE her Anne Elliot. And, as Anne is one of my favorite Jane Austen characters, I just can’t forgive Sally for what she did to her. ⁣ ⁣ WHY IS HER MOUTH HANGING OPEN ALL THE TIME?!? Even on the cover! Girl, close your mouth and put your tongue away, please. It’s not dignified. ⁣ ⁣ And don’t get me started on how this film destroys the beauty and impact of Wentworth’s letter by having Anne ridiculously run all over Bath, followed by a truly horrible screen kiss. ⁣ ⁣ Ugh. Yuck. No. ⁣ ⁣ Feel free to disagree with me, just know that you are wrong. 😁⁣ ⁣ Here’s hoping the new big screen adaptation of Persuasion that was just announced will do this book some justice. ⁣ ⁣ #janeausten #persuasion #janeite #razzieaward #worstadaptation #undignified #sallyhawkins #closeyourmouth

Which Austen adaptation deserves a “Razzie Award”? For today’s #JaneAwesomeWednesday prompt by @nonsense .and.sensibility I choose the 2007 Persuasion. I despise the shaky cam (what’s the purpose? ). Sally Hawkins is such a wonderful actress, but I never liked her Anne. Also, I love many things about the 1995 adaptation, mostly Amanda Root‘s Anne. (However, I’m not sold on 1995 Wentworth, he seems way too old, and quite rude sometimes. ) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Why is there no better adaptation of this, the most romantic Jane Austen novel? The material begs to be turned into a tearjerker romantic cinematic lovestory. I’m so looking forward to the upcoming cinematic adaptation 😍😍😍 finally! Deshalb: The last adaption I watched (Joker 🃏 ). Die zuletzt gesehene, durchgesuchtete Verfilmung: . SANDITON. 🙈 . . #sanditon #sanditonpbs #janeausteninspired #janeausten #blumenliebhaber #janeaustenbooks #janeaustenfan #janeite #austenite

Which Austen movie adaptation gets the RAZZIE award? Today's #janeawesomewednesday prompt was an easy decision for me😉 In my opinion, the Razzie Award should go to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The book and movie were interesting adaptations- but I'm not sure Jane would have been amused. The whole premise just seems like sacrilege to me. Yes, the movie had appealing cinematography and charismatic characters, but it was not my cup of tea. Both of these bookmarks are from Lyrical Fox. All stock for the re-opening sold out in 3 hours yesterday, but a restock is coming soon! Stay tuned for details! Hello and happy #JaneAwesomeWednesday ! 🎉 Today’s prompt is ‘Razzie Award’ aka The Most Awful Austen Adaptation – I nominate the 1987 adaption of ‘Northanger Abbey’ for the Golden Raspberry. It's one of the most horrid movies I have ever started (! ) to watch – the grainy quality, the bad casting (including a 40-year-old Henry Tilney ) and the general misery of it all were so awful that I couldn’t bring myself to view the entire thing. I stopped after 20 minutes or so … Have you seen the movie?? What did you think? 🙋‍♀️ ~~~ .... I'm going to do a two in one post, including the joker option, too, because I don't own a movie-tie-in edition of the 1980s nonsense 🤭 So: First watched -- My father bought our family’s first ever DVD player in 2001 or so and randomly picked up a film from the shop, too. It was the glorious 1990s take on 'Sense and Sensibility' and if I remember rightly, he went for it because of the three-sisters-parallel 😇 ~~~ Sidenote: Have you seen the making of of the film or read Emma Thompson's shooting diary? Both are a real treat 🧡 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #JaneAusten #Janeite #JaneAustenFan #PrideAndPrejudice #emma #senseandsensibility #emmathompson #northangerabbey #bookstagram #bookclub #bookstagrammer #vintage #vintagelover #vintagevibes #bookishfeed #bookishallure #bibliophile #books #booklover #bookworm #bookstagrammer #booksofinstagram #bookphotography #booklover #booksbooksbooks #booklovers #bookcommunity #oldbooks #colinfirth #adaptationtheory #readinginbed

~~~ #janeawesomewednesday #janeaustenfan

"I do not wish [women] to have power over men; but over themselves." - Mary Wollstonecraft • Happy #JaneAwesomeWednesday ! • This post has nothing to do with @nonsense .and.sensibility's prompt, but any excuse to talk about Austen-adjacent content amirite?! • Anyway, if you're interested in the non fiction side of Austen's era, or if you're interested in women's history, you should definitely read Mary Wollstonecraft's A Vindication of the Rights of Women. • Vindication was a pioneering feminist manifesto for the time. In it, Wollstonecraft argues that women ought to be treated with equal dignity to men, especially in regard to education. She thought that women deserved a rational education - to study history and science - instead of being restricted to learning only "ornamental" arts, like drawing or music. • Admittedly, compared to We Should All Be Feminists, Vindication would seem rather tame and "too small." But I think it's important to acknowledge that Wollstonecraft was ahead of her time and started the ball rolling for gender equality. And her daughter Mary Shelley is an icon in her own right. • I realize I'm hitting this subject hard this week, but I hope I can share something new that might inspire you. Losing RBG is a sad blow, but we have a rich history of women who have been writing and fighting for equality, and I think it serves us well to study them. • • • • • #Janeausten #janeite #austentacious #marywollstonecraft #avindicationoftherightsofwomen #weshouldallbefeminists #booksandmugs #bookstagram #glitterandplato #socalbooksta #bookishbettiesclub #readersofsocal

Prepare yourself for something very shocking: I like the 1940 Pride & Prejudice. Garson and Olivier in particular are delightful, but the whole production charms me. I really like that they portray Mr. Darcy as proud, as it provides a neat contrast to the other 2 film versions I like, where he's more reserved (1995 ) or socially awkward (2005 ) than proud. Together, all three showcase different angles of the character Austen wrote, and I dig that. 🎥📖🎥 Yes, I know the costumes are not Regency. So did the filmmakers. They deliberately chose to use costumes that would appeal to their audience, which was much broader than today's audiences, where we've segmented ourselves into little cliques of period drama fans, sci-fi fans, etc. In 1940, most people only got to choose between 2 movies at the theater, at best -- many theaters showed only one movie all week because they had only one screen! And America was still coming out of the Great Depression, so most Americans were very choosy about what to spend their very sparse money on. Opulent costumes were a big draw because they added to a movie's escapist grandeur, which audiences craved. So... if you've avoided this movie because "the costumes are all wrong," maybe set aside your own prejudices and give it a try, because it really captures the main characters and the story very well. 📖🎥📖 I'm playing my Joker card for #janeawesomewednesday today, as this is the last Austen adaptation I watched. 🎥📖🎥 #sailingintoseptemberchallenge #janeausten #prideandprejudice #prideandprejudice1940 #snarkyreaderssep20 #classicbookadaptations #janeaustenadaptation #janeaustenaddict

“If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” — Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen. - - ▫️Hello everybody! It’s #janeawesomewednesday 💃 and today’s prompt by @nonsense .and.sensibility is “Razzie Award”. 🤭 - ▫️I really can’t give a Razzie Award to any Jane Austen film adaptation... but maybe Pride and Prejudice and Zombies??? 🤣 As a movie, it’s entertaining but there is not enough Austen, and not enough of the undead. It’s hard to take it seriously, but it has its perks, like the Bennet girls have never been more badass. 😏💪 - ▫️On a side note, I think film-makers should recreate an Northanger Abbey adaptation! I enjoyed the 2007 film with Felicity Jones and oohh.. JJ Feild 🤍 but I think it desperately needs a remake. Today is #janeawesomewednesday hosted by @nonsense .and.sensibility . I decided to use the Joker prompt today and share the FIRST Jane Austen adaptation that I ever watched. The 1995 edition of Pride and Prejudice is not only the first Austen movie I watched, it was also my introduction to Jane Austen because I hadn't read any of her books yet. The first time I read Pride and Prejudice, I noticed how true to the story and the dialogue, the movie had been. It was a great introduction to Jane Austen and the beginning of my love for her writing. This version will always be near and dear to my heart for that reason. ❤ : : : : : : : : : : : : : : #bookstagram #janeausten #JaneAwesomeWednesday #classicliterature #prideandprejudice #classicreads #classicbooks #2020classics #booklove #favoriteauthor

Today’s prompt for #janeawesomewednesday is which Austen screen adaptation gets the Razzie award? I’m going with the 1999 Mansfield Park movie starring Frances O’Connor and Jonny Lee Miller. I picked this one not so much because I personally didn’t enjoy it (I’ll pretty watch and love any Austen adaptation ) but because it was so unfaithful to the book. This movie combined the book with biographical aspects of Jane Austen’s own life. The character of Fanny is supposed to be a hybrid of Jane Austen herself and Fanny Price. Some of Fanny’s dialogue came straight from Jane’s own letters. I personally think it worked but I didn’t like the fact that Fanny often spoke directly to the camera. There’s also a kissing scene where after she and Edmund kiss she looks up slyly into the camera. It was actually a little creepy. 😂 But most of all I picked this one because its just fun to read all the negative reviews. This movie seems to outrage so many Austenites! “Watching this movie one can only wonder if the screenwriter/director has read the book.” “It would've been better if they named something different and not "Mansfield Park" because it only has the title and the name of the characters...” “An unforgivable insult to Jane Austen and her novels.” Still making my way through the Annotated MP with our #ardentlyreadingjane group. Ready to start Volume 3....I feel like I’ve been reading this one forever! 😩

Welcome to #JaneAwesomeWednesday ! Today I’m going with the joker, the first adaptation you saw, since I can’t possibly bring myself to give a Razzie Award to any of the ones I’ve watched. So, although I don’t have a distinct memory of which was the first Austen adaptation that I saw, I’m 99% sure it was the 1995 Sense & Sensibility film, beautifully adapted for the big screen by Emma Thompson, who deservedly won an Academy Award for it. As you might remember from my last post, I also considered it for the perfect casting prompt because, let’s be honest, it’s the casting of dreams: Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Imelda Staunton, Hugh Laurie... I think all of them correspond to the characters to perfection, and every time I reread the book it’s always them in my mind. Since I have a soft spot for Alan Rickman and his deep voice (and who doesn’t? ), he needed to feature in today’s pic. Because as Colin Firth is Darcy, Alan Rickman is Colonel Brandon. For life. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m have officially reached the place where I am streaming my least favorite Austen adaptation in the background (on the phone & my wireless headphones ) while I try to get work done because my least favorite Austen is still Austen (and therefore unavoidably delightful ). I barely glance at the screen but it is helping me through the mundane tasks. As I result I keep catching background dialogue that is actually a bit brilliant. I don’t know if it’s growing on me, or if this is the sound of desperation. But I’m also always here for some excellent boiled potatoes ..... Update. When I went in search of excellent boiled potato memes (a most essential task to be sure ) I realized I do like one adaption even less ... but no shade to divergent feelings. As an ardent lover of the LDS P&P and the Bollywood S&S I have no shade to throw. 😂 #janeawesomewednesday #prideandprejudice #prideandprejudice2005 #mrcollins #boiledpotatoes #whatdoesthefoxread #potatoes #exemplaryvegetable #excellentboiledpotatoes #talkaustentome

#janeawesomewednesday . 🤥🤫Today’s prompt is “Razzies” ... difficult, yes! I wracked my brain... would it be the eighties P&P series; David Rintoul was not my fav Darcy, but I did love the series. The original Hollywood P&P as it did leave great chunks on the editing floor (I don’t think they were ever considered in the script! ) or the 1999 Mansfield Park... Fanny was quite beautiful, not at all how Jane imagined her..... perhaps the most recent P&P for Kiera’s grin! The trouble is, there is not an Austen that I have viewed on the big or little screen that I have not enjoyed. In the end, my choice was Sanditon ONLY because we have been robbed of a happily ever after conclusion... in their wisdom the powers that be have decided against a second series... if only they’d come to that conclusion before beginning the first. We may have then rejoiced in Charlotte and Sidney’s union! . As Sidney chose head over heart, I choose heart, this one’s for you Charlotte😢; “I know that we both talked it over And said it's best to forget And we'll leave all our memories behind us It's better ended and yet So sad the song of Of two empty lives When that moment of truth Suddenly arrives And so sad the song Of what might have been You see a lifetime of dreams Scattered in the wind Together We belong together Never was that one lovely word Easier to say And so sad the song Of just remembering when Knowing the love of your life Will never come again So sad the song That says goodbye Together We belong together And I'll love you forever On that you can rely So would it be wrong To give our love Just one more try So sad the song That says goodbye (So sad the song ) That says goodbye” #gladysknightandthepips

Do any of you feel like Lady Bertram in regards to your fur friends? 😂 “She was a woman who spent her days in sitting, nicely dressed, on a sofa, doing some long piece of needlework, of little use and no beauty, thinking more of her pug than her children…” Here are some sketches of a couple pups we saw on our Jane Austen England trip. We loved seeing so many different breeds in every place we went!

It’s my first #janeawesomewednesday post! This month’s themes are all about screen adaptations. I have a few fave Austen movies, but I will always have a special place in my heart for the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. It was the first Austen movie I’d ever seen and it was what sparked my love of Jane Austen. It came out when I was 15 and I remember watching it on repeat. Matthew Macfadyen is the only Mr. Darcy I am interested in and no one can tell me different. 🙅🏻‍♀️⁣The scene where he walks through the morning mist to see Elizabeth? That is the height of romance! (At least is was for 15 year old me ) ⁣ Do you have a favorite book to movie adaption?⁣ #janeawesomewednesday (best book to screen adaption ) hosted by @nonsense .and.sensibility ⁣ #Bookaholic #reader #bookworm #bibliophile #booksonbooks #books #booknerd #reading #bookstagram #ilovereading #igbooks #bookphotography #janeausten #janeite #prideandprejudice

“Let me persuade you to follow my example, and take a turn about the room. - I assure you it’s very refreshing after sitting so long in one attitude.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For today’s #JaneAwesomeWednesday by @nonsense .and.sensibility I had to pick an old photo from my phone. Ironically, regarding the above quite from Pride and Prejudice, moving around - as refreshing as it usually is - isn’t much of an option for me right now. Monday evening I had a little accident (involving my huge dog, tiny me and a rabbit ) in which I heavily bruised my ribs and my right side looks like I’ve been beaten up 🙈🙈 It was also rather creepy at the doctor’s because obviously they’ve turned their practice into pandemic mode and I felt like in a sci-fi movie. But I don’t want to complain, it could have been much worse and neither the dog nor the rabbit were harmed (Nala’s also very lucky she’s cute ). And I’m making great progress with my Sense and Sensibility audiobook; Rosamund Pike’s voice is very soothing for my pain meds induced headache. Hope you all had a better start into the week. 'I have heard it all; and how you will explain away any part of your guilt in that dreadful business I confess is beyond my comprehension” 💔 . After a long time of seeing #JaneAwesomeWednesday , I have finally mustered the courage to join in! My first prompt however, has been a bit tricky to sort out, hence the late post: The Worst Austen Villian. . After much consideration, I must cast my vote for Willoughby. Having not only abandoned Colonel Brandon’s young ward despite her being with child, he abandons the woman he loves in a most cold, callous way in order to inherit a good fortune. While there are some who may say his fate being tied to a loveless marriage is a proper consequence for such grievous actions, I argue not! He is truly despicable, and while he argues his leave of Marianne was to salvage the former situation and was therefore understandable, sowing seeds of cruelty wherever he may go is no excuse. If I were Austen, his fate would’ve been much worse and way less monetarily cozy! . How about you? In your mind, who is the most evil of Austen’s villians? . . . Thank you so much to @nonsense .and.sensibility for hosting such a lovely book tag 💕 . . . . #senseandsensibility #janeausten #classicreads #booksandtea #classicbooks #janeaustenfan #janeite #austeninaugust #bookstagramchallenge #bookchallenge #bookstagramcommunity #booklover #bookish #bookstagram #quarantinereads #igreads #bookishcommunity #bibliophile #bookaddict #bookworm #literarylife #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #booknerd #bookgeek

Happy #janeawesomewednesday one and all! I bought this gorgeous edition of Emma when I was in Bath last month and I just love it. I think I’ll end up collecting all of them, knowing me! What do you think is the most aesthetic Austen adaptation? For me, I would say that Emma. (2020 ) is. I know it got mixed reviews but I personally loved it, and I loved the colours, costumes and scenery. I think it’s the most visually pleasing too. (Honourable mention to P&P (2005 ) as well! ) Thank you to @nonsense .and.sensibility for creating the challenge!

🧐😅 . . #janeaustenfan #verstandundgefühl #senseandsensibility #janeausten #janeaustenzitat

“We are to have a tiny party here tonight; I hate tiny parties–they force one into constant exertion.” In a letter from Jane to her sister Cassandra. May 21, 1801 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜 Today’s prompt for #janeawesomewednesday is “A small book party” . For my book party I thought I would share the newest additions to my Jane collection. The covers are beautiful and I absolutely love all the blues and purples in the spines. Also, speaking of small book parties... @glitterandplato and I started a 2nd group chat for our May buddy read of P&P. We would love to have you join us! DM if interested! #ardentlyreadingjane 💜💙 💜💙💜💙💜 Found these gorgeous editions from @bookishpursuit . Checkout her feed for wonderful vintage books! It’s #janeawesomewednesday and I’m finally taking part!⁣ ⁣ So, who is trash in Austen’s world? In the end I went for a double whammy in Sense and Sensibility: Fanny Dashwood (who is selfish, spoiled and generally horrible ) and cruel John Willoughby. ⁣ ⁣ I’m sure you’re all relieved to know that this is my sixth and final Vintage Classics Austen so I’ve finally got the full set.⁣ ⁣ Thank you @nonsense .and.sensibility for creating this tag!

“I will not say that your mulberry-trees are dead, but I am afraid they are not alive.” - Jane Austen’s Letters :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This funny quote always me think of when I was younger and Mum asked me if I’d watered the veggie garden, while she was sleeping after night shifts. My response was fairly similar 😂 . . It’s been far to long since I’ve read Pride and Prejudice. This is my only floral edition that fits with @nonsense .and.sensibility’s #janeawesomewednesday prompt.
