Answering some weight loss FAQ’s: 1️⃣ How did you lose weight? At the beginning of the year, I started Lazy #Keto (Never tracked macronutrients or weighed my food... I tried to at some point but couldn’t fully commit so I followed what worked best for me ) and transitioned to a simple low carb diet once I hit the 80-90 pound mark. I wouldn’t even consider myself keto anymore. More like Low-Carb-Mami. 2️⃣ Do you workout? Absolutely... I workout religiously, usually 3-4 times (sometimes 5 times ) per week. I have NEVER used a trainer before (YouTube and Google trained me lol ) but my workouts include: cardio, light weight lifting, kickboxing, hot yoga and hot pilates. 3️⃣ At what point in your journey did you start to incorporate exercise? I began working out 3 weeks after I started Keto. Wanted to give myself a few weeks to get adjusted to the new eating routine before I started to hit the gym. On busy weeks, I’m still able to get in 3 days of exercise and sometimes do back to back workouts to make up for any lost workout time. At first my workouts were super basic (elliptical, treadmill or cycling ) but they intensified over time. 4️⃣ What did you eat on keto? Many things! Keto was the most realistic diet I have ever tried. It wasn’t as restrictive as most diets, however I did remove sugar processed foods and refined carbs from my diet completely. Low Carb, no sugar is key. Plus, I love to cook so all it did was motivate me to stay in the kitchen and prepare my own meals. Although I don’t do it often, eating out is never an issue for me because there are so many healthy restaurant options nowadays. 5️⃣ How do you stay motivated? By nature, I’m a very routined, disciplined and results driven person. So weight loss was really about putting in the work, seeing the results and keeping that momentum. It took me many years to get to this headspace, but once I did, I knew that nothing could stop me! Also, prayer and therapy! I literally got on my knees and prayed for this. I also have an amazing (but small ) circle of friends and family that have supported me from the very beginning 💙

From a canceled weight loss surgery appointment (yes, I was scheduled to have vertical sleeve gastrectomy but ended up getting cold feet ), to suffering periods of depression and self-doubt... I prayed and asked God to help me develop the discipline and consistency needed to release myself of a very unhealthy lifestyle. . . It wasn’t easy, but I promise it was worth it 🙏🏽 . . This year’s birthday goal was to lose 50 lbs but I surpassed that and actually lost 60 😳. Having struggled with my weight for many years, I decided I wasn’t going into my 31st year unhealthy, uncomfortable or unhappy. I started the #ketogenicdiet on January 15th and have been rocking with it ever since. My relationship with food has changed completely, I’ve developed a love for working out and more importantly I’ve made some serious lifestyle changes that have caused me to become the healthiest I’ve ever been 🙌🏽 . . So many people told me not to do it, they said “Are you sure? I heard people have died from #keto ”..... I’m sure they meant well but I’m a firm believer that nothing beats a failure but a try, so I tried and did a whole 60 in 5 months 😱. Now I have 40 more lbs to get rid of #letsgetit 💪🏽😏 . .
