Anyone else getting some Buontalenti Grotto vibes from Michele Oka Doner’s works? Fun fact: Michelangelo’s ‘Bound Slaves’ were supposed to be put in the famous palazzo’s grotto (commissioned by Francesco I de’Medici ) . . . . . #boboligardens #palazzopitti #florenceitaly #firenze #bernardobuontalenti #medicifamily #micheleokadoner #davidgillgallery #fogartanddesign

. . #coronavírus #covid19 #firenze #firenze 🇮🇹 #florence #boboligardens #medici #dwarf #nano #mostro #mostri #morgante #rinascimento #rinascimentoitaliano #monsters #poema #poem

• 🌎E N G Enchanting beauty. Heady fragrance. Narcissus’s name recalls ancient myths: a “flower, with white petals surrounding a yellow heart”, as #Ovid says in his “Metamorphoses". The word “narcissus” derives from the Greek “νάρκη”, “drowsiness”, in that in ancient times it was told to be sleep-inducing (the word “narcotic” has in fact the same root ). In the #BoboliGardens , around the “Basin of the Isle", the narcissuses (aka #daffodils ) are blooming, announcing this premature #spring . They have long and linear leaves, and white or yellow flowers with a double crown: the inner one is like a small trumpet and can be darker than the outer one. Symbol of afterlife, for the ancient Romans they were the flower of the Elysian Fields. In Jewish tradition, they were associated with women’s #beauty and fertility, and in Cristian culture they were the symbol of rebirth after death.

Exploring The Boboli Gardens in Florence . I have to say those gardens were not in their full glory when we visited them but there were for sure some cool places like this one. After whole day of walking it felt great to just lay on the grass and listen to the sounds of the city 😊 . Have any of you visited them during the spring? . . . #italy #italytravel #florence #florenceitaly 🇮🇹 #boboligardens #magicgardens #girltraveler #girlsdreamtravel #visitflorence #visititaly 🇮🇹 #girltravels

Congratulations to the Uffizi Gallery and the Boboli Gardens for becoming the most visited museum site in Italy! In the latest @mibact statistics it was revealed that @UffiziGalleries were the cultural institution with the highest growth in visitors here last year, and given the competition in this country that’s a pretty impressive achievement. - So what were four and a half million people from around the world so excited to see? As well as their permanent collections with their wealth of historical art in the main galleries, last year the Boboli gardens hosted a very exciting sculpture exhibition by none other than longtime friend and collaborator of Berengo Studio: Tony Cragg. - We had the pleasure to collaborate on the organisation of the Gala Dinner for the opening of Cragg’s exhibition in the gardens. The show featured 16 artworks spanning more than twenty years of his artistic practice, ranging from resin flowers to giant bronze stalagmites. The exhibition also marked the first time a main Italian museum had dedicated a monographic exhibition to Cragg’s work. The director of the Uffizi Galleries, Eike Schmidt noted how the gardens “with their natural wonders, works of ancient art and highly rational structure, are the perfect theatre for [the] exhibition.” It’s this ability to see the value in allowing contemporary art to stand side by side with the ancient that makes the Uffizi galleries such an exciting institution. Here’s to making time to see more art in 2020! - 📸 Image: @hellothirdeye #visititaly #mostvisited #italia #uffizi #tonycragg #tonycraggsculpture #boboli #giardinodiboboli #boboligardens #galleriedegliuffizi #uffizigalleries #florence #art #arte #artwork #contemporaryart #sculpture #contemporarysculpture #exhibition #opening #view #instaart #masterpiece #LissonGallery #alfrescoart #nature #gardens #florence #firenze #britishart #sculptor
